I hear you...but you know what, I can't agree 100% on that because when NWA came out...they was spittin real shit from the heart. Shit that was goin on back then (and still today....check my "And they Wonder Why We Hate Them" post). They had a cause...they stood for something...even though you might not have agreed w/ them...they weren't just following a trend. They were true to themselves. The stuff that comes out nowadays...these rappers are "me-too" rappers. Just tryin to make a dollar. Which is all good...but I couldn't do that at the expense of my character. And the fact that the radio is force feeding this simple minded shit to a weak minded generation...it's killing an art form. We're losing this battle.

And Stress in the 70's thats all they knew, so Dre has been doin his thing.
I liked Renagade by them cats when it first dropped..
When we didnt have a hipop past those dudes were creating it.Not all of it was good, ie the John Wayne rap.
It was new and expirimental then so no one knew any better. Now adays they do,
although I dont entirely disagree with you on that being a catalyst I think its cuz the "White" record Industry looks only at this as dollar signs instead of an artform.

gangster rapp didnt kill hip hop Sales and Popularity killed Hip Hop.
the more popular it became the more chances it gaave bums to get signed it was like a new trenf that was banking shit after about 96 the game was saturated wit shit and the term "real Hip hop" didn't really exist untill like 95. Shit got popular and essentially hip hop created a new genre Hip POPular.. the music became pop ie popular music then the crap came rolling in feel me gotta give the ppl wat they want to get ya dollas and thats wats fucking up the game only a handfull of rappers put out thier own feelings and the others ride the WAVE of bullshit that average consumers ask for thats y there are so many one hit wonders in hip hop originaty breeds longevity some on should tell parlee that.

It's funny how someone like Parlae talks shit about Nas...

Listen to him rap...what does he rap about??

Dem franchize boyz nor parlae will be mentioned in the "best" anything category...

Hate on Nas because he didn't follow the bullshit route most "rappers' took to "get money"

I have the SMACK album DVD..and them dudes in the south were all about..gettin money...not even mentioning that they love hip hop......even if they didn't mean it they should've said it......I have no respect for people who don't respect the art of true hip-hop...they're tryin to get paid and be out....

And the artists who were interviewed rap about nothing...it just happens that the last word in each bar rhymes....that's all it is...

Don't get me wrong...the money's good..but you have to love what you do as well....

Paul Wall was one of the artists interviewed...he kept it real by saying "rapping is easy..anyone can do it"

That' just shows how simple rap has gotten....there's no complexity to it...it doesn't stimulate the mind...it dulls it...

lol..dissing Nas when their "best" song was "lean with it...rock with it" COME ON MANNNNNNNNN ARE YOU SERIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS?????????

My man Step Child was over last night and we were discussing this thread. He said he had been DJing a party of 15-16 year olds in the hood and all they were about was the snap music.
He put on DMX no baody was feelin it, Nas nobody was feelin it.PAC and NOBODY was feelin it!
But Chicken noodle soup was the hit...WTF?
This is the market in which I live, ....anyway he thinks the year of the stupid rap is gonna be over in 07. I can only hope.
