He's the frontman for Doomtree which is a punk/experimental band. Howeve, the dude has always been doing hip-hop on the side. He's a black guy too, so breaks the stereotype totally. But the album came out yesterday (1/31). Its awesome man. This is not street shit or anything like that. Very conscious, political, emotional, and personally driven hip-hop. Very good though and an awesome display what real instruments/real musicians can do for beats.
