CUBASE SL2, NUENDO2 (MY PICK), SONAR (WHICH IS TRASH), DIGITAL PERFORMER, LOGIC AND MANY OTHERS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE "EXPENSIVE"
I DONT LIKE SONAR FOR ONE REASON YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE HARD DRIVE WITH IT. IN ANY BIG STUDIO THEY RECORD THE AUDIO IS ON ONE HARD DRIVE AND THE PROGRAMS ARE ON ANOTHER. THIS HELPS THE COMPUTER RUN SMOOTHER WITH LESS PROBLEMS. IN MY STUDIO THATS MY SET UP (I HAVE FOR HARD DRIVES) AND MY COMPUTER RUNS SMOOTH.

If you already have cool edit i would say stick with it if you dont got anything then look at a pro tools or cubase set up. Keep it simple and remember to ask yourself what you need from a program. If you need something to just track beats in and do a few edits hear and there get what ever program thats gona give you the best results. I use nuendo witha motu 828 sound card. What kills me is when people buy top of the line audio programs and use it with a (A) b.s. computer, and (B) with a cheap azz sound card. Im not saying you are or anybody on this page is. I do alot of recording other than just beats i also do heavy vocal with a lot of plugins recording and the studio where they mix mystuff down has pro tools and Nuendo. I use to own the mbox and pro tools le....the software was cool but i felt alot better using cubase or nuendo so in the long run i just went out and invested in nuendo but i did this because i felt good using it not because the standard this or that but if i was to only just need a program to track beats and do few edits i wouldnt go it i would of got something like cool edit or at the most cubase but nothing more cause for most part your gona have to retrack your beats once you sale it and go to the studio anyways.
