This is gonna turn into another hardware-vs-software debate I see that, but why not just utilize everything?
You cant really pick up reason and take it with you unless you have a laptop.
AAAnnnd people like to look at gear and you can put all types of customization on an instrument that you cant really do with software...
They NEED to come out with some skins for the 2500.

I'm a reason heaad to the fullest, and recent MPC addict.

I'm a self-proclaimed pro in reason.. but iono bout it replacing hardware. . .

That's what they said about all the other out board gear! lol Most studio's have all that out board gear now because there stuck with it... it has become worthless. At the end of the day they all sit behind a computer freaking programs like Reason, Cubase, KonTact etc. Could u afford all the rack mount equipment you have in reason if u had to buy it as out board gear....I DON'T THINK SO! (lol) The same technology in that antique gear is in software form.

I disagree , I think the software just does a good job emulating the sound of the outboard gear..Not the same technology.
I have yet to hear the digital realm be able to duplicate the analog tape saturation sound and general noise of "Tape".
BTW if you can point me to a plugin that emulates analog I think we will all be thankful.

mpc dont skip or crash or fucup or slow down or get infected or nothing like taht .. it works the same way evry single time... the feeling i get from my 4k cant be replaced on a computer.. i used reason for a number of years and was very good on it (sold alot of beats and got alot of credits using reason) .. way more features and options than the mp.. but making music aint about features and options. Its about what gear u are comfortable with... if evrything was about features and options then real steinways wouldnt sell. and no one would record to 2" tape .. but they still do ... my 4k will never collect dust unless a 5k comes along and repalces it lol ... shit 3/4 of the biggest beat -makers of our generation still use the asr-10 and that thing is 15 years old. and theres no pretty waveform to look at either. mp60's are about the same age.... hardware aint going no where ... u can choose reason or the mpc or whatever works best for u but i laugh when people say that software will replace hardware.. people were sayin that 6 years ago too lol.

I guess u still got a pager the size of a garage door opener and a celly in a carring case with an antena as big around as your middle finger...lol..I'm just joking homie...we agree to disagree. I agree on the 2" tape..there is no fatter sound. There have been trials to test if digital can emulate analogue and they were successful. It's just a matter of time! B easy!

so is it really necessary, this has been going thru my mind for a few weeks, been thinking about getting one, should I get it if i don't sample much, or is it more into it then just samples. Or should I get a workstation i.e. fantom, triton, korg since i don't sample much anyway? Explain to me, maybe you guys can help me make my decision

gettin an mpc just because others have one is STUPID.would u follow if the mass would eat SHIT? get an mpc only if u really need/want one not cause others have one. end of story.

If something is working well for you why change it just because. I purchased "Reason and Recycle" a year and a half ago and still use the "MPC 4000" because i can work quickly with it. I have yet to really sit down and learn "Reason". Not because i don't like it, because i don't have time like that and the "4000" is doing me justice right now. I just use "Reason" as one of my sound modules, but that's about it. I have yet to use "Recycle". I basically bought them because i wanted to see what the fuss was about. I fell into the trap you're about to fall into as far as the "MPC" goes. No, i'm not saying i wasted my money because i think that "Reason" is wack. "Reason" is dope if you know what you're doing. I'm saying that i wasted my money because i seen the fact that everyone was talking about "Reason". The point i'm tryin' to make is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Plus, "MP" aren't one of those things you buy just because you assume everybody has one. (They're not cheap...)

software doesnt sound like analog .. it just doesnt ... if u think so u got a set of amateur ears .. close? .. yes ... but at the same time its way off ... no vst sounds like a moog. period. Somebody prove me wrong if u think otherwise ... no plug sounds like actual tape saturation either... there are some good software guitar amps out there but nothing sounds like a vintage amp ... the ssl and neve plugs sound good, but they dont sound like a real ssl board or a neve board... im not sayin by any means that hardare is better than software.. but software hasnt reached that point of accuratley emulating hardware. Its just a fact.

I dont know why anyone would need to choose anything. Just use both, together.

MPC's can sync to midi you know.

I can say one thing.. I don't see myself leaving reason for strictly hardware.

I don't see me leaving hardware for strictly software.

They both do what they are meant to do, some do what they do better than others. So until one uneversal monster comes out, i'll just use hardware and software together..

I don't believe in limiting myself.

just use what works for you.it doesnt matter.hard/soft just make sure that the result is BANGING!

nuff said.iam done with this.

I don't think dude wanted a software/hardware debate. I think everyone kind of got off the subject. (Even me) Basically my dude, just go with what you're will feel comfortable with. Everyone else, just "CHIL-LAX", breathe...there you go. (LOL) Now lets keep bangin' tracks. Touchy, touchy...be easy...

RS for life u fools!!! but i'll go to tha studio and track it down on Pro Tools... lol

all the current sequencers are very diverse these days... the MV could be superior to the MPC and the RS, but i have never encountered a problem that the RS's sequencer couldnt fix... everything i need it do, it does, and June 2007 makes 5 yrs of use... and i still dont know it 100%... ive recently learned something new last month... im pretty sure the MPC users feel the same way.

Aww hell naw its hardware all day or Im burnin this beeotch down !!! muhahahaha!!

J/K I knew this would happen like I said before and many others have said use it all or look ignant in some future convo.

But this WAS posted in the hardware Akia section.
I actually posted this in the Lab, it was moved here...lol, but thanks everybody, i didn't kno it was gonna turn into some big debate, but you guys are right, stay with what I'm comfortable with, I use reason and its a beast, I love it, wouldn't trade it for any other thing, but it was just a lil question, cuz i am still considering getting one, and money no object for the one person that said a MPC aint something u can just buy and say forget it. Maybe I should get the MPD 24, i do like to go to the my local guitar center and bang on the pads, maybe thats my answer the MPD 24.
