candian MC's are all over the place(no disrespect) i like cardinal but thats about it. Most of the other cats i heard try to hard...

You actually gotta be here to understand it fully. When I speak in french, I use an Haitian slang when I speak to my peeps (actually,it's a mix of creole, french and english, if I want to be more precise) , when a jamaican speaks with his brigen (friends), same thing. It's part of our identity as Caribeans... So that's why he speaks in Patwa... get me...
Since most Blacks in Canada actually know where they are from, we represent our heritage by speaking our patwa and that's the biggest difference between blacks here and blacks in the US (you of all people should understand that, Class).
And most canadian mcs do rep Canada, actually, you havent heard his whole catalog, so you cant really say that we don't (listen to Bakardi Slang... very nice beat) Thing is, our commercial beats dont, so they can be more universal. We know that American folks wont relate to us talking about Canada, so we don't. Comments like the ones you just gave just proves that... it's a marketing strategy. So, when speaking in Patwa, and waving flags of our origins, the other west indians can relate to "our" rhythm and poetry...
Unfortunately, you dont speak french (I'm guessing) but still go and listen to the groups I posted, you'll hear what I'm saying...

Ive been to toronto bout 6 times in the (past 4 years) and vancover once, and nova scotia bout 4 times. when dealing wit black folks the only cats i noticed that had their own distnict culture (as well as slang) were the cats from nova scotia(maybe casue they been their for awhile)
but in T.O. when i ask cats where they from or what they are, the first thing that comes out they mouth is the island their parents are from. As far as slang, from what i personally saw(again im no expert) it was a mix between carrabian slang and american slang, i dident really hear to much original , "candian" slang. Same wit the music... The cultural their i saw amoung black folks was the same as what i experinced in london, heavy west indian & american influces. Not too much influce from the actual country they are in....
As far as your area i woudent know casue i dont speak french.....I heard they got fine chicks though.....

as for the T dot, as I said, it's a cultural thing. If someone would ask me where I'm from, I'd say that I'm an Haitian living in Canada. No doubt. As I said, you gotta live here to understand. Our cultural heritage is very important here. that's what keeps us togheter. You rep the US because, in a way, it's what you can rep. It's your country. Canada is where I live, but most people that see me in the streets wont say: "that's a quebecer"... they'll say "that's an haitian". They'll say I'm a quebecer when they'll need my vote or something like that...
That's why we rep out country... and I'm pretty sure it's the same in the UK. The only place I think that a black man outside of a black country consider that he is at home is the US... (with some exceptions, of course)

If you'd listen to a Canadian beat... you couldn't really say, right away: "Hey! that's a Canadian beat." But there is still a thread that connects most canadian hiphop beats.
There is no 50 Cent here, no one repping gangsta (well the ones who do dont do well)...
There is a big caribean influence (for the reason I stated) from the black artists...
You'll hear a lot of collabs from T.O. since the mc who are making it work a lot togheter... and their beats are more on the Dancefloor tip...
But that's about it!!! (I guess)
