Use compressor for vocal boosting (if that's what you're after).

You normalize only when you resample something

word, just normalize a sample, not vocals, i used to do that and after awhile I found that it doesnt sound right. Compression tools are the way to go.

normalazation does thing to the entire frequency range, its really makes things sound strange.

I use the gain function in PT to enhance volume if its too low as well as eq n compression

Shit I was responding to this and got bz and deleted the damn post..
I do normalize under certain circumstances..
If an artist brings me a project and the vocals are cut too low I will do it then I havent had any problems in that respect...
I have been having probs with my mic/preamp/compressor setup tho and it hasnt been putting out at the level it used to..
I then normalized the track and had this irratating low level hum in the back that I couldnt get rid of...
Hmmmmm.. If you have thoughts on that lemme know..
But as a rule I wouldnt normalise..

That happens sometimes, probably because of the microphone cables. Maybe they are lo quality. It's just a guess but I think that could be the problem.

Nah you might be right, most likely I touched somthing I shouldnt have and now the settings are off lol
