I'm a HUGE PAcino fan,,,and Carlito's Way is one of my favs,,,,,I bought this Tuesday when it came out. It was good. Nuttin spectacular, but it tied in pretty well with the first one. Diddy asctaully did a good job. If you're a Carlito fan,,,get it. Jay Hernandez does a great job with the character. Sounds like him and actin is good. Me and Clev were talkin the other night and havin "Pachanga" aka Luis Guzman in this was weird. lol overall,,,,not bad, worth the money.

Based on the trailer, I wouldn't watch that film if they offered free popcorn and soda with it. I don't know who the director is or how he got rights to do that film, but somebody let me in so that I can do "Resevoir Dogs in the Hood."

That Movie Was Garbage No Joke !!!!!
I found the first one boring. Al Pacino is an amazing actor, but I don't know why he took such shitty roles like the one in Scarface and Carlito's way. It's the same shit... some tired gangster thinks he's the shit and gets blown away in the end. You'd think that wannabes and wankstas would be discouraged in their lives of petty crime, but for some reason rappers find a movie about a glorified yayo peddler getting blown away as being very inspiring. I guess that speaks about the industry.
If someone can actually provide me with a coherant and thoughtful reply as to why it is a good movie, then please tell me. I know ya'll probably love Scarface, and this one to a lesser extent. Carlito's Way I can somewhat understand. It's a dude who wants to get out, and sees that there are more precious and beautiful things in life other than money.

In rap/hip hop it's cool to be a criminal, be uneducated, immoral and whatever. I'm not saying let's all go to bible camp, I'm not saying it's not ok to indulge and get fucked up... but in no other form of music is it ok to talk about killing and hustling drugs like it's something to aspire to. I never understood what was cool about some Cuban getting rich because of coke then getting killed by someone way bigger and better than him. For some reason rappers find Scarface a source of inspiration, whereas it should be something that mocks that lifestyle, acting as proof that it doesn't pay to be a gangster.

It's pretty basic... the Tony comes in with NOTHING. 30 minutes into the movie, he offs the guy who made him. A renewal, and at the end of the movie what happens? His criminal ways catch up to him as he's blown away by a 12 guage. I just don't see how that is so cool and why it seems like every rapper and person into the urban culture thinks that Scarface is so cool. Really, it is a film mocking the entire idea of the hustler... there is nothing glorious or fitting about being squashed by another low life (who is at least a much more powerful low life).

I think most people with common sense would see it like that though. It doesn't take a lot to work out that if you're involved with that sort of stuff, your deeds will catch up to you, or someone one will cross you/betray for the money anyway.
The sort of film really just illustrates that humans' own greed and desire is what ultimately causes their downfall. It just so happens that in gangster films this isn't shown in a metaphorical way, but you literally see how the greed and ambition of one person to get to the top [or to have money/power etc.] leads to them betraying friends, family and generally acting like savages to get what they want.
