New Beef... Old Meat

Take a listen to:
Dipset's Nas Attack

What do yall think about the New Millenium...beef in Hip Hop?
it's not like back in the dayz where it just went down in history that you took an "L" (lost) at the club or in front of your boyz, might even shoot the fair one now they blast the spare gun... it's real out there!

Are these just harmless words for publicity? or can these words lead to the real live beef the streets call for? Is it healthy for hip hop since this is how the art came to be through the battles at local street clubs and block parties....

Or is it all getting old like talking about jewels, gunz and chicks?

You gotta remember that some (NOT ALL!!) of these catz in rap come from and still live in the grimmy streets where it's not all talk so some of them really livin' this ish...

I think that the battle is a huge element of hip hop. However nowadays i believe the artisits or just doing it for publicity. This shit with the diplomats is nonsense, they suck anyway.

anyhow, its just a bore nowadays. grown men just cant get along..... i dont really know why this started up again, and i dont particularly care, but come on.... enough is enough! its old already.

Hey,

That beat is terrible, I didn't even get to the rapping part. The 'beef' part is scripted, I'm sure, just like all that nonsense on Paradise Hotel.

This is a popularity gimmic, if nas wastes one breath on this clown he will automactically be recognized...even if he gets crushed by Nas which he would, people would still want to check him out and in turn, increasing his popularity. It's an old school tactic...remember when canibus jumped on LL? LL slaughtered him but at the same time, he became a bit more popular.

Dac,

That's hillarious! LOL! Holla!

Seriously, though...it makes total sense what you're saying. If these clowns had any real problems with each other, they would employ the time-tested and proven tactic of Busting A Cap In His Ass instead of crying like little girls and hoping to win a popularity contest.

As there seems to be about 3 people who control the whole commercial hip hop thing, it can be compared to the WWF (now the WWE): you have good guys, bad guys, alliances, break ups, make ups, new-comers, old-schoolers, a couple hot chicks who date the big boys on top, and beer.

Oh yeah, and a television outlet to broadcast this stuff to the masses.

i grew out of battles and beef a long time ago. it really is childish. it serves no positive purpose any longer in my opinion.

I agree with truth told - being that its starting to get old - tha battling that is...on occasion anyway.
I for one really like battle rap, but tha whole ranting on another rapper ish iz a whole nuther topic quite veered away from tha battle rapping scene.
As for tha initial question: Yes. They are clearly trying to get publicity. Duh!....Yo i know i sound hella corny saying that but its true - that shit and all other shit alike iz quite tha same and striken with evidence of 'sreaming for someone to notice me' - know matter what tha fuck i say; as long as theres contraversy.

CONTRAVERSY---thats really all you need....To get noticed and make money from it anyway. That and a good publicist.LOL.....Unless of course its such a huge beef that it doesnt matter and iz going to leak into tha mainstream anywayz...

This dipset nas beef is a classic example of people needing to mind their business..Nas made a statment about camron ..cam responded and just lost all respect from me as a man with that very disrespectful line ..It was disrespectful to nas to camron himself and to a lot of proud black fathers in the hip hop community...You don't tell anyone you'll take his daughter to r.kelly place and have your way with her face..men in the street get killed for less than that ....and jim jones has nothing to do with this beef...He's not even a real rapper...They all should take notes from nas about having hip hop longevity

hey, i know this is off topic, but am i the only one who think that nas's delivery on Warrior Song sounds almost identical to Talib Kweli's on Good to You?
