So, i'm completely new to this... I have a Numark tt5oo turntable that I want to start sampling from. (I've been doing all my sampling from You Tube until now). But I don't know what to get... I'm not looking for anything fancy for now, literally just something that I can stick between my turntable and interface so I can get a signal. (Although, at some point I would like to learn to scratch).

I've seen a Numark DM-3000x on EBay for 20 quid. There's plenty of preamps on there too for around the same price, would these do the job?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

GEAR HEAD NERD WAAAARRR!!!!!!! lol

On the preamp question tho I just got a re20 and I use a digi 003 .
I found that I had to crank the input waaaay up to hear it, at which point the whole room was coming in and I didnt like that. So I grab mein ol studio projects preamp and plug it up to find it had died of disuse.. RIP
SOOoooo I run to gtr center and buy the cheapest shit they had thinking "eh.. I just need a signal boost how bad can it be?"
Well how bad it can be is an unexceptable "SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSssssssssssssssssssssss" behind everything except my voice over work.
So I google the problem and its of course inherent with the product, product being a ART Project series Tube MP.
(guess this will now be in future peoples search results)
So my sweetwater guy tells me yeah dont use that 75 dollar thing spend damn near 700 on this other thing that is as good as this other 2000 dollar thing...
I am endeavoring to do so , but I am asking the tech nerds I know and love on here, whats the best thing to use as a pre for the electro voice re20??

NOW FIGHT !! lol

lol, nub.. were talking phono pres. but for your issue... dude there so much out there, we used re20 on siemens, telefunken, sebatron, rfz, motus most of them gain +70 ez. That what you should be looking for and yeah, rarely a cheap solution is a good one when it comes to mic pre's

You should have more than enough gain on your 003 already. The preamps in that are not bad so if you want to upgrade you will have to spend a bunch more money. It has been a while since I have used on, isnt there either a pad button or a control program that can, also I assume you have the 48v button OFF on the preamp of that mic right?
