Just thought I create a spin-off form Vice post about name changes thats all.

I started back in 83 with "SIR ROCK MC"...from 88-94 it was "JEFF G"...from 94-02 "LITE BLACK"...from 02-04 "COPPO" (cuz when I cop...it was nothin less than a O)...from 04-current "SKIDFLOW/MATIK (FLOW when I rhyme & MATIK when I do beats)

I started off calling myself Encore...but wasn't really feelin it...during that time I came up with a few names that I almost called myself like "Ether," but ended up calling myself ViceVerse basically cause I was on both sides of the music in many ways. Like for one i like underground and mainstream both the same, I was an emcee and producer... then I seen a kat who was kinda makin a name for himself with that same spelling so I dropped the Verse and changed it to City(like the game)...then just recently I dropped the City and just went with Vice.... but I'm due for a change though.

They used to call me D-Rek back in high school because I used to run people over on the football field, I used to drag people while running. Some people used to called me bear, my family still calls me Big D
Since I've been exiled from society for the last 2.5 years, I read up on psychology to learn more about the mind the name Schizo-Manic emerged I don't feel human, I'm about to create another alias. I was thinking about making an album with each track being a different personality trait, thats sounds like a good idea....

(G and M are my intials, but G-MC stood for Great MC) back in 79, but i was told about some kid by the name of GrandMaster Caz (yep, that dude who wrote some of Rapper's Delight) would battle me for the name... i was just startin out, i aint have no rhymes yet...lol... so, i went with G-MAN, but that name was used by one of the ol skool groups as well (cant remember the group right now)... i decided to go with Slick Gee since i was always gettin outta sticky situations on the street... then, i went with Slick Gee the G-MC (G-MC now stood for G-Man Can)... i used that name from 86 till 2000...then, when i went to the End Of the Weak open mic i decided use my "O.G." status...lol and i needed something different from Slick Rick... so thats when i decided to go with Slik dA Relic, droppin the "c"... i added "Tha Livin Fossil" later on, on stage and in my YouTube vids... im stickin with that 4ever!

It used to be a rap group back in the day called E-man and Rayvon outta Brooklyn or Bronx...anyway E-man does construction type work down here in NC sometimes...he travels back and fourth. its been alot of pioneers that have fell by the wayside.

Les Baby Love... all of em dope to me... i grew up in East NY brooklyn... rite across the street from Spidaman n Freeze of BBD's "Poison" fame... went to school with Freeze... some cats understood that u needed a plan B... others... well, i still see a few on tha blok when i come round... hustlin.

Briefly called myself DJ EvilDick, (sin + cock geddit?), until someone at a gig asked me if the name was a tribute to Ice-T...........I nearly cried.............. so just went with my birth name instead.

Lol I was actually thinking about this earlier during the week. I've had a few name changes throughout my time although I am not an MC, but I've been making making mixtapes since High School lol.

The History:

During the 93-94 I was in 8th grade. Me and my cuzin would be silly and made rap songs over those small casio keyboards and my name was "Killa-Z" and I don't know how I came up with that but I thought it was funny. I still have the tape laying around somewhere and I've been trying to find it.

During High School around 94-98 I couldn't afford any DJ equipments so I started mixing on the computer on mp3 by opening 2 Winamps lol. My DJ name was, DJ IN EFFECTZ because IN EFFECTZ is my screen name during that time and still is till this day.

At 2001 I got a full time job and now I can really afford to buy the stuff I needed. I Started to really get into DJ'n so I was practicing at my boy's place and I got to admit, I was a little better than him so I kept saying, "Damn I'm just too nasty!" Then it started catching on and it came to my head to name myself DJ 2NasTE.

And by 2005, I started to get into producing and I didn't want to use my DJ name because I thought it would sound retarded. So then I started putting things together. The name "Kurtis" is a name often used when I was DJ'n because some chick that used to go to the lounge I DJ'ed at often mistaken my name Keo for Kurtis. So Kurtis stuck with me and it would also be the name I often tell girls when they asked what my name was. And my native name means Rich so I combined the 2 and became Kurtis Rich.
