so when does the federal government get too big? When do we say enuff is enuff?

I'd say the Patriot Act/warrantless wiretapping stuff is govt being too big. The whole focus on standardized testing above all else is school is too Much of the other stuff the anti big govt types decry, I'm not really concerned with.

I take it on a case by case basis. I favor big government in the case of things suc as abolishing slavery, ending segregation, establishing suffrage for women and minorities, having a FEMA that'd do their fucking job, having an FDA that would actually properly test shit so that we can recall deadly food and over the counter medicines before people have to die.

Should there be limits on the reach of government? Sure. But you can go to the opposite extreme with that, such as internet darling Ron Paul, who voted against the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act, under the claim of "state's rights".

The government uses "terrorism" to put these "Patriot Acts" into order... The people are for it so they can feel "safe". But what is really going on is that the government is using fear to control the masses....

Perfect example, Obama using the great depression and words like "catastrophe" to coerce people into rushing the passing of the stimulus plan....

Fear mongering isn't a new tactic....but it's very effective to weak-minded people....

not exactly a mini country althouh that is the way of the Constitution. I just want the states to be able to choose their laws as long as they make sense. I believe a state should be able to call home troops from over seas if a catastrophe hits. By federal law, they can't do that. Of course, mediinal marijuana which I can benefit from as well as millions of arthritis patients and others. But we all know certain states would take shit too far. Especially in the south like yall mentioned.
