i dunno know why it is, but as classic was saying to me, but none of my beats(to me anyway) sound like something someone could rap too. i dunno whether its because theres too much going on in them. like, one of the instruments takes the place of the vocals or something, and i need to take some of the stuff out or what. anybody ever have that problem? where your beats are like purely instrumental and you can't picture someone singing with them? any suggestions?

Tha best way to learn how to mold yer track around someones vocals is to have someone actually lay down vocals for yer track. Then you can alter and change, or cut for that matter what you need to and things tend to come together better and make more sense...

An alternative tho, more of a training wheel method that can help also, is to take a accapella that you like and lace tha vocals with a beat of yours...try doing this from scratch tho instead of just inserting tha acca over tha beat...You will be much happier with tha end result:D

Here. Granted, the second is my techno beat so i mean, words there arent necessary but on Salsa and Chips and String Pleasures, i feel that the string usually are doing alot of movement and vocals wouldnt go with them.

I am just about to upload another song, Soft Soundz. you can tell me what you think about that one. thats definately alot simpler than my others. much less going on.

and Duece, there really arent any rappers or singers around here to sing to it. but i could find the lyrical part of some song and build around that, i think i will try. also, i tried just like, listening to all my hip hop to try to see what they do and dont do and stuff. idk. thanks for the input

My personal opinion...For example, on salsa and chips...Maybe try introducing tha beat tha way you did with tha strings in it and then after about 4 bars or so, either completely cut them, or strip them down and stab em in there on occasion so that it leaves more space for tha lyricist...tha strings are cool, but they sound very upfront and "lead" so i would make them your hook part...

On soft sounds, it really just depends on tha lyricist, cuz some fools jus know how to ride a beat, but honestly if you didnt want to cut anything at all, then you could probably let someone jus rap over it tha way it is...you never know till you try tho!...

My suggestion, is that: Your on tha right track, but when you start to feel that your track is feeling cluttered, start stripping it down and taking parts out and keep workin with it to see how it feels....Rule of thumb, is that in general, mind you this isnt set in stone...when tha hook part comes in is where an extra instroment either comes in or leaves...keep that in mind and it will help for more inviting transitions...
And last, keep working at it...practice makes perfect!....For right now try what i said, and maybe tighten up yer mix...

Good luck homie...

I don't see a problem for rhymes in your music, but you have to find the right mc. I don't think just any mc will rock your tracks.
maybe you need to find someone who sings or does both.
your music is more electronica than hip hop in my opinion (I've got the same thing).
I think someone will come allong, but your tracks stand strong as instrumentals also.

Like DeuceMade said, i think you should cut the strings up a bit. make the sound less full

hmmm, my oppinion;
i like the stuff much man, espacially how you workin out the drums. good music no doubt.
but for a classic hiphop beat you should maybe cut down a bit of your creativity regarding to, how you feel, the whole instrumental should develop.
hiphop beats often are not more than 5 or six slightly varied loops ,lots use less.f.e. mcs like moka only. he takes 1, and does the rest with his voice.

maybe you should try out to work a bit more with samples. to get the feeling of how a straight 4 bars beat is built.

listen to some instrumentals and figure out how simple they are arranged. often
its not more than a little dubbing during the track. plus you have to flip the loop right ;)

but apart from that; develop your style in both directions, 'cause what u doin right now is fat.

yeah bro when i first started producing i went way over the top with all my productionz... i went through the same thing having to learn to tone down my productionz ... but i still make wild ass beats that are way out there everyonce and awhile...but u never know ... maybe sum bbody will approach u to do a movie score or smthin like that .... i say just do was it right to you ... make the music that u want to make and see what happens..evry producer that introduces a new sounds gets shitted on by the hip hop purists anyways ...so do you mang

I checked the site, not bad at all, from a professional stand point, I would first take a look at your melody compositions the notes are off and the instruments dont mesh too well. So I would recommend just more practice and listening around, just do what most of us on here do spend all of our free time just practicing and experimenting, and neve discourage yourself. What you have on the site, is way, way better than when I just started overall, listening to your tracks I hear ideas and originality to your style.
And there's no doubt in my mind you use FL Studio, I can reciognize the default sounds, try take take a look at soundfonts, and experiment with them, www.hammersound.net has tons of free ones and do a search on this site for free soundfont player, it will bring up a thread with a Vst Soundfont Player that you can use with fruity if you have only the demo version of fruity soundfont player. And dont wanna end without saying great work with the drums

Absolutely on the instrument meshing, but actually the off notes in the melody are the things that hook the song for me, along with the drum transitions.

I'm go through similar issues, I'm having trouble hearing the flow on top of a beat idea. This is where I wish I could approach music from an MC perspective even if a skillless MC. I'm always having to hit up my friends that can spit... too busy? not sparse enuf?

Interesting stuff tho... try identifying your fav bars in this and maybe cut it down to that. Sometimes when I find a 5 minute song has too much happening, that distillation process will take the instrumental candidate into something flowable.
