Well, the industry does what the industry does. it's up to us, as in you and you and I, to do what we feel we should, rather than "sell beats" for a quick buck. Do popular stuff because it sells.
While I agree on the general idea, it's not the industry's fault, it's ours.
Deep and profound, true music is harder to sell, but we want immediacy, we want cash, success, but we don't want to wait, we want to do "beats that sell", look at the amount of people who did dubstep a few years back, the amount who do trap and stuff like that right now.
Very few artist truly embrace who they are, their soul, as they rather sell it for $50 bucks on their paypal, travesti as a "drake type beat"
Most don't believe in themselves enough, most don't believe they have it in them to be the next big thing, so they settle for stuff that sell rather than stuff of their own.
I had this truly awesome revelation the other day, when I realized I could be just as good as the very best musicians that I listen to, if not better, I just need to believe in myself and put in the work, be patient.
Everybody can do it, very few truly do it.
Music industry is like politics, you get whatever you put in it
