Ok, so who on this forum actually plans on working in the music industry as a career, as opposed to a part time thing.
Most of you who know me on the forum know that I've committed my life to the industry, and have actually come a long way and am doing fairly well. I still have a long way to go, but progress is being made on a daily basis!
I bring this up because, I'n the 5 years or so I've been involved in music, I've come across a LOT of different people. DJ's, engineers, producers, artists, etc, and honestly 99% of them THINK they're serious about music but don't commit themselves to it. How can you expect to succeed if you don't dedicate every waking moment of every day towards it?? To be perfectly honest, I have yet to meet ANYONE who has anywhere close to the same dedication I have towards this industry....And believe me, that 99% probably goes for this entire forum. I would bet there's only a few people on here (I can probably count on 1 hand) that have decided to make this their career and are 100% dedicated to it...
I really get frustrated sometimes. People talk A LOT! I'm trying to help out a few aspiring producers to get to where I'm at, offerening them to take advantage of my contacts etc. There's one producer (friend) in particular I'm working with, helping him with his beats, and attempting to shop beats for him. He says he's serious about this, he's got talent, but when I ask him for a Pro Tools session to mix and get the tracks ready, it's a HUUUUUUUGE hasstle to get him focused enough to send it!! It's like I need to ask him 50 times to send it and he always ok ok, and never gets around to it!!
Anyways, how many of you guys are working full time towards making this their career? Whether it be as an artist, producer, engineer etc.
