mpc2000xl = keyboard?

with an mpc 2000xl can i assign a sample (lets say a piano stab) in different notes over the pads so i can use the pads like a keyboard?

if so, do you have to set the pitch/note manually or does the mpc2000xl do it for you?

nope...you just use the 16 Levels feature which takes a single sound and spreads it across the bank in different pitches

Doing it manually, isn't hard at all and gives you more control over the sound. It may get tedious if you're doing a lot of notes,

when you use the 16 pad option, what are the calculations for the various pitches. like does it just put it up 1 notch each time or one note or what?

i dont really know, exactly. but you only get 16 levels doing it that way, and when you actually do it manually it still doesnt sound right. i say get a scsi drive and some cd roms and save yourself the trouble.

can you quickly explain how a scsi drive and cd rom will solve the problem..

a scsi drive will allow you to take a sample cd rom (there are literally thousands out there, load it into the drive, and you will have a piano sitting in your mpc for you to play via midi keyboard.

but it still has to be playable. you can have 88 keys worth of well pitched samples, but if they lack the playable characteristics of the actual instruments its pretty much useless. save yourself the time and get a scsi drive and some cd roms.

is an scsi the same thing as a zip drive?
