I have an MPC 2000 and a M-Audio Axiom 25 keyboard controller triggering Reason rewired to Ableton live 7.

I think your questions has to do with gear? R u asking what extra gear or accessories you need to be able to have everything link'd and sync'd. If so....

a descent sound card(and not th standard one that comes with your computer), a midi interface (motu fastlane usb should get it), midi cables (at least 4), and a dedicated "studio" mixer. After those items u may want to get a small midi keyboard so you can play some melody (unless you're a straight sample head).

If you get the 1000 the set up will be a little diff't if you decide to connect it thru usb cable. I personally wouldn't do that because you lose the ability to take advantage your midi ins and outs when adding gear. But if you're going to be using just the 1k and FL usb is the way to go.

Everything gear wise is pretty much optional, you really dont NEED anything extra once you get your MP. I assume your still going to record your tracks into your PC. you could get a hardware recorder, mixer, sound module, etc... But like I said all that is optional not a must, depends on what your trying to do.

The (7) things I would recommend at least to get you started would be:

Turntable - This is essential if you plan to be a sample artist. You can still rock CDs or whatever else tho once they are converted to 16/44.1.
Phono Pre - You may or may not need this depending on the turntable you get. I believe you get better signal quality from using one however due to its built in RIAA EQing so its something to consider.
2gig CF Card - You gotta have somewhere to save your beats to. These things can be purchased for really cheap prices so I would just go with the full 2gigs or even get (2) 2gig cards and youll be straight for at least a year.
128mb of RAM - You'll learn fast that if you start to do large arrangements with big sample libraries or simply require longer recording time in stereo then youll want to upgrade your RAM. It also improves your processing performance in regards to effects as well.
Reference Monitors - If you dont have these your going to be listening through headphones for a long time which will suck.
Good Cables - Its not highly necessary to cop good cables but I noticed a drastic improvement in noise reduction once I switched from my shitty HOSA's to PROCO's.
Lots of Vinyl - This is the heart of where your inspiration and sounds come from so your going to always need to go digging for new "tools" on a regular basis if you want to keep things fresh.

In the future your going to want to expand into purchasing:
*A good music computer
*A decent soundcard with enough I/O to accommodate your tracking
*A DAW that your comfortable with

^Exactly right.
If you can't afford much, get the ram first, MPC is kind of unusable without the 128mb ram (imo of course). and then a CF card, ive got a 4gb sandisk, works fine.

I have the 1k, one of the new models. 4GB cf works fine with it, reads 3.8 gigs from the card. I saw that no1 really had a 4gb at the mpc forums, but it was just a few quid more so I thought why not get one and try it, and it worked.

Well he said he was considering a 2000 or a 1000....The 1000 is where I have experience primarily and you can upgrade the RAM in that model. The 2000 lets you updgrade it as well i believe though if im not mistaken??? Its only like 32-64mb's or something pathetic like that tho.

I'll prolly get cyber punched in the mouth for this..but... Why the HELL would you want to purchase a 2000 xl or 2000 with external zip drives and all that crap when you could cop a 2500 which, to me, makes more sense in its OS and has flash drive and uprgradable to an internal HD?
