um.... "industry standard" comes to mind; it is what "the big boys use".... i have had both at the same time, and the tritons sounds do not impress me in the least. the effects are subpar in my opinion, and the soundset is third rate (behind the roland xv 5080 and motif, respectively) in my book, but not horrible- just not my thing. it is an excellent machine, however, but overpriced as is most hardware.

the mpc is the premier sequencer/drum machine on the market. it really is the best, easiest and intuiive machine of its kind. no sequencer i have worked with comes close. great for drums and phrases, but its effects are limited, even with the card.

the combo is very powerful and as long as you can afford the required outboard gear it is an excellent core for a midi studio.... i myself would go the route of a motif rack and mpc (what i had before i sold it for my pc, cubase sx and kontakt) if i went back to hardware. it really depends on your sound preference.

really, an mpc and any first class sound module/keyboard is the best hardware combination OVERALL if that is what you are interested in.

In my opinion, gear for the most part is like mexican food,

its all the same stuff, just in a different format.

I prefferd the Mpc cause of my personal taste, which what it all comes down to. I think the MP help me understand sequencing faster than if I had a computer or another drum machine.
Now I chose the triton over the Motiff and Fantom, cause I got a better deal on it , and the touch screen cuts the learing curve in half. It so easy to navigate as opposed to going thru menu after menu. Just touch what you want, I couldn't imagine it gettin any easier, But man the sampler is my favorite thing about.

Having that set-up don't mean sh**
It just a little popular cause some of the reason I said.

Whatever you got you got to tweak it and put your stank on it.

"just" a drum mahine? are you aware of the sequencer on this thins, the fact that it saves $$$$ by allowing you to get the rack versions of the way-to-expensive keyboards and sequence them? i have used quite a few drum machines, and none compare to this one. the asr has a horrible sequencer from all i have heard, and the sp 12 is very limiting..... its the best drum machine/sampler/sequencer on the market.....

I second that right there. Tha all might MP. You said it all Truth Told don't need to add on. I do think that tha triton to me is overated. I think did that to try to knock tha MP out wit a 2 piece that don't work. Not knockin' it thou, it was cost effective 2 in 1 for tha cost of a 3000 anyway. So is that good? Well tha motif kinda like never work on can't talk. Now tha phantom never work on either but impressed by tha mpc style pads "biters".....lol Me myself, I use a roland xp-30. Some of tha sounds are way better. Hands down MPC tha truth.

i have the motif 6 classic...did really see much of a point to lose more money tring to resale it so i stuck with my guns. but one thing i was thinking about was the fact that korg might drop a new board this year thats gona give the es maybe a run....it just seems right cause the ES came out of nowhere.....im waiting for NAMM cause korg has juice the triton for along time and now the with the ES i know they know its time to drop the next synth.....plus

Trinity was the standard for a long time and I still see a lot of them in studios....the sounds are solid......I had the motif 6 for about a year and half....only sold it because I ran into a few money problems....but I spent 3 days sampling everything I could off of it b4 I sold it.....I think any keyboard that has a good sound set and sequencer is a good asset with any of the mpc's as the drum engine......the only real use for a keyboard in a heavy use situation is Gospel music that still hasn't really gone to sampling like RNB has recently.....that was in the days when a producer did have to know how to play the keys and think of melodies on their own....so really a keyboard is not a requirement but a good addition because you might want to resample some keys....but nowadays RNB follows just about the same rules and techniques as Hip Hop so if you nail one it's not that hard to be good at both especially if you get onto a major project that might tell you they want 3 RNB tracks and just 1 hip hop track and you can't go oh I can only do hip hop...LOL
