I'm thinking of buying a MPC 2000xl the next month, but I have some questions to be answered first.

Is it possible to make a drumloop on the MPC and record each different drum (kick, snare, hh etc.) on individual tracks in Cubase SX. What do I need? The 8 outs expansion card to the MPC and 8 ins on the soundcard maybe?

Oh, and please excuse my bad english. ;)

you don't need 8 out... jus sync... cubase.. with the mpc... making the mpc the slave....

i you don't have the 8 outs... jus record one at a time.... i do this alot...
i'll drop 5 at a time...

2 stereo ..for whateva keyz im using....
and one mono track for drums... (which is the mpc)

once you record the 1st pass... trk mute... and record the next rack...

p.s.. you will have 2 cut the loop up... into indivsual piece... kick/snar/hhats

Also When you're tracking the Individual sounds, to make sure you get it as on beat as possible. Put a 4 count in front of each track in the mpc. Take a rim shot or some sound thats different from what you are tracking so you can line up all the tracks evently.

u must not have an mpc....

all you have 2 do ... is go to (shift 9) turn sync in to midi clock... that's it...

it comes with count on...

i recorded hundreds off songs... and have neva... i repeat neva had a sync problem once...

all my songs are done.. like this... and i use no 4 bar count...
jus ...(apple /spacebar) and here the beat go..

Man dont tell me what I had or didnt have. Thats the way we did it. You did it your way. I didnt have Cubase On my Computer I would have to do it that way in order to put it on CD and transfer it to another computer with cubase on it. It made it easier for the guy engineering the beat to match up the tracks. There you go again with your arrogant bullshit about your way is the only way. Eat a dick you cock sucka.

My $0.02. The MPC sequencer is pretty easy to use. You should sequence in the MPC if you have a lot of hardware etc. But if you're gonna buy a MPC just for drums its a waste of money and time. Just get a virtual drum machine and a Akai MPD-16. Some good ones are NI Battery, FXPansion Dr-008, and LinPlug RMIV.

The reason why i'm gonna buy one is because I want some decent hardware to play around with. Sure, iVST drum machines with the MPD-16 will work just as good as an MPC (maybe even better), but I feel that it'll be more fun to play around with some hardware instead. Cause after all, I'm doing this for my own pleasure. ;)

Btw., thanx for the tips.
