I think your a little behind on the times. (you coulda bought it a little while ago)

But, im not lookin into that. Yea, its portable, and you can drag and drop samples straight to the 1k. But I think id rather pay the extra $200 for the 2kxl.

I still think it's hot, but its not worth getting if you can get the 2kxl.

The number of maximum notes..I think is less other than that maybe no reverse...other than that.....From what I heard from some producer reviews I mean ones that have used all of the other akai gear for real production they all had positive things to say about it....I read Def Jefs review and some more who got to preview the piece before release, but I can't think it could have less features as far as taking your creativity to another level and also speeding up everything to get your production output faster....

People had the same doubts about the MPC2000 back in 95.

Things get smaller faster better usually. I say test it out for yourself, if you dont like it return it.

Think about it, 1 there was no real software out that could really compete at a professional level back when the 2K&2KXL hit and AKAI was pretty much the studio standard besides EMU.....well with pc's and Mac's processing power and now software made especially for production that is very powerful and also pieces from ROLAND and YAMAHA they had to come out with a powerful all in one piece that does everything that the older AKAIs did and more so I don't think there is any argument whether this might be a better piece production wise but I don't want to eat my words but the 4K was not accepted with open arms by the masses because of OS quirks and original price, but by streamlining the 1K with a less a klunky disk drive and an updated OS in a new smaller case and they have had their stuff tested by pros that produce just like we do and give good feedback to their engineering so with that said I don't think that this piece could be inferior to any of their previous products with the exception of not being able to toggle the sample rate to 12 bit....that would have sealed the deal but to me this is a step forward because when I look at my old mpc the case is 2way too big for what is inside, just some pads and a relatively small circuit board so I wouldn't be quick to judge that since they put all of the new technology within a nice GROOVE box looking footprint that it wouldn't be as good I think it just shows that they know how to compete and deliver quality and also still make profits with all of the other options available to make tracks nowadays......the only way I could see wanting to get a 2Kxl over it though would be the maximum notes advantage and maybe if I was hooked on the original look and feel.....

I been comparing the 1000 and the 2000XL, and i think i might end up getting the 1000 when i get the money. Its more portable, more easy to fix and/or upgradable (because how much of it is based on computers), and the only thing wrong with it is the color, i think id rather send it to that place that does custom color MPC's than have to live with the red and blue.

Like I said, Your not losing oppossed to the 2kxl. Definitly when it comes to the purpose of creating hiphop. You look at specs and than place the machine in the desired setup, if you're in a big hardware setup I'd suggest the mpc2kxl since all fx is better off when dealt by hardware. If this the first piece of gear you purchase its great for an entry level setup with future expansions in mind being fully adaptable.

Another thing I was wondering is wether the S2000 engine still remains in the 1k. I think not since BigD mentioned the conversion issue.

ive got both. they both fulfill a good purpose.

like the 2kxl more generally, as ive toured with the SAME unit for over 2 years, through every type of indoor/outdoor gig, on planes and bouncing around the joint...

that same unit is still ticking on fine. my backup one now just sits in the studio all racked up.

i got the mpc1000 to go with the laptop when i need to be a little more portable and on the go.

i think all the "tighter" talk whatever... its all opinion. plus its a new thing, its going to take time to push this to the limit, it does crash a lot on this OS though

o well, that's child deseases, I remember 1.11 on the 2kxl. i was typing n ticking so fast on the buttons I'd runn into hidden screens and bulk memory pages, which I couldn't even edit. it was madness!

i heard the mpc1000 is a good buy, for the money. compared to the mpc60, which i have, or the mpc3000, that shit is cheap, but does it sound like them? i think its like an affordable version of the mpc, more for gigs and stuff. www.midicase.com might have some good reviews
