I was thinking of doing a project matching the workflow of an sp-1200, using battery. I'm just going to use Battery for all my samples.

My question is:

When you've finished the mix in an sp 1200, how many different channels do you mix down so you can add effects,eq and compression in pro tools? Do you mixdown the drums, then seperately mixdown the samples or do you individually mixdown hihat, kick, snares and samples.

hope that it makes a bit a sense.

would appreciate your help.

How about using the low pass filter?

Does every thing usually get run through the low pass filter outs ie which channel?

thanks

all d/a converters have a low pass filter (read up on the nyquist theory) and because the sp-1200 has a very low sampling rate (22kz if i remember correctly) you can really hear the effect the filter is having (it is working at about 11khz) this is alot to do with the sp 1200 sounds so you could filter at 11khz (although it won't sound much like an sp1200)
