I think it just reads the sound files, you would have to export your MPC project as midi and bring it in that way.

I have no aspirations of selling off my MPC, but considering I need money for Maschine and I was mainly concerned about not being able to access the 4GB of beats on my flash cards that are MPC project files thats yet another huge reason to consider the jump if I were to sell it off after all.....dam!

Ok Im almost sold on this Mashine thing. One question to the Ableton users. In terms of Workflow is the Mashine that different from using MPD 32 + Ableton 8 in Clip View to put together a track? Im asking because I just started to really get into Ableton and like its workflow in clip view especially coming from Logic being my main DAW. If im gonna spend $600 on this thing I want to make sure its worth it.

You think abelton is sexy now with ur lil mpc deal then WAIT to you dress that hoe up with the maschine! You gotta be a lil saavy and midi map what you want it to do (which really isnt hard in abelton at all!). You can have maschine control ANYTHING! The way I use it with abelton is I drop 16 audio clips of the song im gonna sample and assign each to trigger when I hit the corresponding pad that way I have free reign in the warp window and if I need to add treatment to a single sample I can do that without treating the other parts...
But dude, my personal dirty lil secret is that since 1.6 came out I havend pulled up abelton...everything is so fast in maschine as far as composing and sampling that ableton actually gets in the way! Lol imagine that right? The only time I pull up abelton now is if I cant get the sample to fit the old fashioned way and i need to warp...and if its something simple I can stretch in logic then Ill pull up logic, strech then re sample into maschine...finish the track in stand alone go back to logic for track out and mix. BAM! its sooooooo smooth man...

I hear you loud and clear I guess I have to goto guitar center and play with it for a lil while. I've changed daws too many times over they years. I've just went from learning Logic to jumping head first into Ableton Live lol. Im gonna cop one soon. Maybe this spring.

Word, I mean both are great tools, I actually bought Live back at version 6 but then it became super lacking to me as far as advanced editing capabilities go so I decided to make the jump to Logic and Ive never been happier. I actually find Logic very inspiring and easy to navigate so thats why its my goto DAW now.....Live has its place though too cuz for stuff like remixing or live performance its still awesome IMO, but those are just the types of things I find it useful for nowadays after switching to Logic...I know theres plenty of cats that use it as their #1 DAW and it totally does the job, just not my cup-a-joe anymore.
