You know sadly I have maschine hooked up to my windows box right now. I can try it. Why could you not midi map the transport controls if they did not work out of the box? hmmm
That would suck. I usually use maschine stand alone just like I used my MPC then I bring everything in to the DAW. But I will let you know if I get time to try it.

ha! in the past 2 years I've purchased 2 other pad bangers...the trigger finger and the MV-8800 (which is a beast). If i get this Maschine, that will be 3! Wait am I crazy????

no, when your operating it as a plugin the transport controls don't work because it's not in midi mode it's in Maschine mode. Therefore, Maschine is slave to your DAW transport/tempo.
This is something many of us have been asking for to be changed or at least give us a way to control the transport of maschine when it's a plugin. I rarely used it as a plugin for this reason, but now I'm using it more as a plugin and it's not that bad. I like being able to bang out chops/drums in Maschine then dragging the loops, tracks, or whatever into the daw as audio.
It definitely is still growing but it's stable and useful as is, 1.5 is going to add a lot of functions on the sampling side that people have been asking for like destructive editing of samples.
It really depends on how you work and what you like to do, for me, I have absolutely no use for my 4k anymore, it's a great machine, but it's time has passed for me.

lol....I hear ya, it's def a dope machine...I had my fun with it, especially when I had all my keyboards and racks and such.
Yeah sounds really dope, but I think Im gonna wait till I start hearing that the support is entirely there for the stuff Im looking to do with it. If I had already bought it and found that out afterwards it would have been a pretty big turnoff. Having the ability to integrate into your DAW of choice correctly is really what makes it attractive to me personally. Im not looking for something with a 2-step process anymore...i might as well keep banging out joints on the MP if thats the case.
I wish I would have done the same thing...I traded my MPC for the maschine and its a pain in the dick to use with logic right now...Although, my buddy who put me on to it said he got his working in logic so that he can use the transport functions and what not on the maschine to control logic. I gotta go check him out and see how he did it.
Its got ALOT of potential, I'm not mad I got it....I just dont have the time to learn it right now.

I just could not get my head around the MV-8800 it just was to much and the menus seemed bad. But powerful for sure.
Yeah, when I got the MV8800, I was transitioning from the SP-808EX (which was also a beast in its own right)so that kinda lead me right in on the MV without too much of a learning curve to deal with, and I think the MV was the upgraded replacement for the SP-808 because Roland stopped making them when it came out.
I think Im just a gadget freak, if it's NEW and HOT, I want it!

I never use it but I think Logic has assignable midi functions. My Axiom transport buttons did not work initially and then I went into the prefs and assigned them.
The main think I wanted out of this is the mute groups. If you have a midi controller that looks like the MPC, 16 pads, and you can control Ultrabeat, that is pretty close to MPC like function to me. The only thing I have not taken the time to learn is the mute groups. If I find mute groups in Ultrabeat, I might pass on the Maschine.
Although I do think it makes a pretty cool midi controller as opposed to my big ass Axiom 61.

well, there is a "midi control" mode...I created a template for Live so I can switch back and forth between that and controlling maschine. I've suggested making it a one button switch right now I have to hit shift and control.
So as a midi controller it can control the transport of your daw etc, but when you have the controller dedicated to the maschine plugin, it won't stop/start your daw. The plugin is synched to your daw and you can just start/stop the recording in Maschine.
It's really not bad at all and certainly nothing like the two step process you have to follow with the mpc. I'm just not sure how they can make the plugin actually control the daw, since it's loaded IN your daw like any other plugin.
the workflow for me really can't be matched by the mpc, especially if you rely on software the the rest of your sounds/production.
you can drag the whole loops out as audio directly into your daw, or you can solo sounds in your pattern and just drag each sound to it's own track, very quick, nothing like tracking out beats from the mpc.
I've been using maschine since January, my only real issue is make sure you have more then what the system requirements recommend. Im running the minimum pentium 3 with 2gigs ram, and it takes forever and sometimes crash when trying to load a demo song. And the more sounds I add to a project, or load a Maschine drum kit to see what it sounds like, I get the pops. As long as your PC has the power Maschine is great, but for me when I get to certain point in my tracks, I export and finish up in cubase.

Hey Joe - So in Midi Mode, do you have the ability to re-assign all functions & knobs to Maschines controller so that it still works the same as it would in Maschine Mode? If thats the case, its a small workaround but perfectly viable. I just want to make sure the thing still fully functions as it should (or as it does in Maschine Mode) as a plugin in Midi Mode.

No mashine mode and midi mode are different, but it is easy to switch between. But switching modes just to hit play seems kinda lame.
I must have phrased my questions wrong. I understand the 2 modes are different. What Im trying to find out is if its possible to leave Maschine in MIdi Mode and have everything custom mapped so that it still works perfectly with the plugin but also allows transport control as well.
