looking for a good signal processer

basically i wanna run my drums through the mpc1ks multiple outs through some kind of signal processer that will give em more punch and grit ,im thinkin of coppin a sp202 and loading all the drums in that cuz its 12 bits which will give it sum crunch and just miding it up to my mpc .im not sure about this im just assumin so any does anyone have any suggestions on whut rack,pedal signal processors to look at , i already have a compressor it does make my drums punchy but i wanna be able to give it sum crunch too

Buy a lin6 pod. Speaker cabinet modeler, they should come cheap now. You can also have audio peak though a real and let it saturate.

there is a link for the POD... not sure that is really what you want... depends on how you sample and what not... it could be used as an insert or even an aux send...or you can just put it in line of input when you are recording your samples into the mpc... it is 1 channel mono though as well... asmost drum samples will be anyways... as for the 202 12 bit theory... it is a way to go but it is sorta a waste of cash... if you truly want to get a crappier distorted sound and make it sound good, it should go through quality sounding gear... that is just gonna sound shitty because the gear is shitty... not the way to really go for it... the pod is awesome though... especially for vocals and guitars...

It really gives some edge on clean drums, not tuby enough but it'll on a lot of productions.

Amplitube works in the same manner, less static though hehe.

That because them instruments are mono anyway, i mean wer're talking drums. And yes, you can always send the signal to aux, so that you can apply the fx to any signal.

yeah i wouldnt to try to make em stereo i was askin cuz id want to use diffrent effects on diffrent samples,i dont got the right equipment to do aux sends i got a basic desktop mixer beringher euroracksmallest model it has like 3 inputs and they all used and no patch bays or anything

Then try the vintage warmer, this plug can do miracles.

What you need to do is give the big knob a twist up and then turn the volume down a pit. Check them Vu meters though. You still aiming for a healthy activity and not stationary in red. Use a vintage warmer on every isntrument channel to tailor the sound using that eq only and dont forget to set the appropiate chnls to mono or stereo. Really, it's up to your ears/monitors.

In no case should you add more eq in the signal path/ the rig of plug-ins. Less is really more, the vintage warmer sufficient.

Also check out amplitube, it has some good stomp box effects that really give whatever you feed the vintage retro sound. Put this on your auxilaries and you have retro fx too instead of the clinicly responsibility of most new plugs.

Finished the track, cool, now process the 2track master through vintage warmer again in wavelab or SF, but use a preset instead. Fiddle around with output and the volume, but it shouldnt always be neccesary.

After that I use an optimizer to give the same headroom alike my other productions, I dont "normalize" . It also renders anything to a set of resolutions, I always set it 16Bit/ 44kHz.

That pods is cheap too, if you got more money you can look into the rack model. I haven't scoped it though but it's supposed to be an advanced model to the pod.

Als check out the Xt model, you can buy their model packs ( expansions ) online for new amps, fx, eq and tubedrivers. I also believe the USB port transports audio. Real impressive !

The POD Pro is SICK!!! if you got the extra shecks for it, it is way worth it... it has a bunch of differenct types of connections on it including the balanced XLR connectors... They also have the Bass POD as well... the pod is one of the greatest things out there... i had the regular POD for a while but i am looking towards gettin the pro now myself...

Just anything that needs edge. You can plug an acoustic guitar into it and it'll sound like a electric blues guitar.
