Seems like they are doing away with the Dongle which means.... you can probably find cracked versions. The problem is... you have to have a crazy system to run Logic.
I was pissed until I saw you can get a free upgrade if you bought Logic before August. Still stings though... I spent 699 on the upgrade from Logic Express.... which cost me 199 so I have invested almost 1000 bucks so far.
But Logic is one of the best programs I have ever used and I like that it is still improving.

The best thing ever is that u can freeze tracks...shyt takes a load off ur CPU so u can use more plug ins....I want to switch also,but cant part with my Digi Rack

freezing helps quite alot. aonther thing you can do is increase the buffer size in audio preferences.
any students here? the student discount is pretty sweet too.

I ordered my ipod off the apple website before and they didnt need any proof to see whether you're a student or not. The only question they ask what college you go to. If you're going to buy it in stores, then you're gonna need proof. If you're ordering it online then u can pretty much say you go to Harvard and they'll give u a student discount right away lol.
just got my copy from the soho store today, installing it tonight. from everything i've seen and heard, sounds like they really delivered on this one. im gonna take a day off from the beats tomorrow and get to know this program a little better, i'll post my impressions after.

youre gonna go nuts on ultrabeat, believe me...
after using it i'm pretty happy with the upgrade especially considering the price. the new sound library is cool but not really all that much over 7.2, lots of these instruments they're advertising are exactly the same. also, they had originally posted on their website that there was a new pitch correction tool ala melodyne but this isn't really true, and there's no beat detective feature, still.
although they didnt deliver on any of that stuff, there is some real improvement. like formant said ultrabeat got a ton of new sounds and a step sequencer. the program is way faster on my g5. the library lets you tag, search, and scroll through instrument presets which is amazing, its a lot like mediabay in cubase 4 except it works well. the sample accurate editing in arrange is nice also. the compressor also sounds way better now, they added some vintage modeling to it so it can really thicken up your sounds.
just make sure you have plenty of hd space, the full install i think is around 35 gigs.

and.... the engine sounds better than LP7.2, open your 7.2 projects in 8 and compair.
agreed, the high end is more present and things just sound smoother overall. it may just be the more advanced pdc making sure things are in time with each other, cause the same type of sound change happens when you add a big ben to a midi based studio, but whatever it is it sounds great.
