yeah it is incredible man, i love it. maybe the best part is they've already updated mainstage, which is a really good sign. maybe it won't be 1 or 2 years between bugfixes and updates anymore.

Wut's the deal with mainstage?

right now its for live performance only..its basically like a synth rack where you can load and play VST's but not sequence them. i guess if you're dj'ing and wanted to throw some of your own playing on top you could use it for that, but its kinda useless right now. if they integrate it into logic with an update it could be real nice though

dude have you used it! Its awesome. You can use all the logic synths and plugins in it. You can build custom panels to control whatever you want. Then tweak it with midi. Its actually amazing.

its cool and all if you do live work, but i don't- i can use all of logic's plugs and synths in logic and sequence them there as well. i don't really get why they didn't integrate it more with logic- i.e. be able to save a keyboard layer/split patch from multiple AU's and use it in logic- that would have been extremely useful.

but logic can already do that? Thats like saying Fruity Loops is useless because I dont make drum beats.

huh? FL is a sequencer man. i did full beats with it back when i used it, i dont know what drum beats has to do with FL. if you think mainstage is a good program because it does something logic can't, i can see that, but ableton did it 2 years ago with live's racks and elastic audio.

most people here aren't going to use mainstage, so i was just saying it doesn't seem like a tremendously useful program to me, as it stands now. maybe it will be worth something for producers (and not just performers) once they let us build splits in mainstage and export them to logic's library, but for some reason they didn't do that yet.

I was using FL as an analogy. Your bashing a program because you don't need it. That does'nt make it a bad program. BTW have you created custom controls in main stage? Have you hooked it up to a midi controller. There is so much under the surface that main stage can do. It's super cool.

Is Logic 8 really that good?
I might just have to spend a lil on the upgrade come months end.

Any new plug-ins?

LOgic 8 is soooo good that my mentor ( A professional musician for over a decade as well as a devout Logic 5 user) ran to the Apple store to cop the upgrade after I let him play with the program for an hour. TRU STORY---LOGIC IS THE ILLEST TO ME

They ran out of it at the dealership! I have to wait for a couple of days before getting my hands on the upgrade. Sucks!

So it´s apparently true then. The Second Coming of Hesus has come upon us in the name of Logic 8....
