Personally, I can't wait to hear more of his thought provoking lyrics.

A Black, hip hop, druggie, he needs rehab before he comes out, or he'll be back sooner than later

This doesn't apply to anyone here but while we're on the topic...

On Tumblr everyone is shitting on anyone who is announcing his return and calling them dick riders. I don't know if you guys have been seeing it, but there is a weird pattern where people follow cats like Weezy and Kanye to be hip. But then to out hip the hipsters, you act like you couldn't give a shit about those guys, as if you are too good for them. So when I was in New York I saw a few "Who the fuck is Kanye West" T-shirts. And on Tumblr you see people reposting the Weezy release info followed by a "WHO GIVES A SHIT?" gif or something.

So it is kinda funny to me because it is all one big contest to be cooler than the cooler cat, but they are still part of the same engine of promoting Weezy or Kanye.

Anyway... my real point is, I feel so far removed from today's music scene because I don't understand alot of it. I try not to hate on artists but there is just shit going on now that I don't grasp. Like I try not to hate on Drake, but I don't understand it. I believe 50Cent crushed Ja Rule for singing and rapping and then Drake blows up on that shit? And he used to be on a corny as TV show and now he is supposed to be the dopest lyricist? All my boys love Drake. They swear this dude is like Tupac on steroids and shit. I'm like "Do you know who Sean Price is?"

Like Nikki Minaj?

I am not grasping any of that. Like everybody is like, that chick is hot and I'm thinking, "SHE LOOKS LIKE A BAG OF PLASTIC..." And then they hold her on this lyrical pedestal and I'm thinking, "give me a dope line she dropped?"

LOL

I dunno man. I am fukn out of touch.

LMAO!! soo many quotables, but yea, I've noticed it also. Its like you're either forced to love them, or you automatically hate them.

50 crushed Ja because he was supposed to be gangsta and he's singing on records. You're also talking about a totally different time in hip-hop. Although it was less than a decade ago....Hip-hop doesn't stay the same for long. The south isn't really holding it down as much anymore...People like Drake are taking the reigns now. Lyrically in the mainstream, no one is fucking with Drake....Sorry...the dude has the mainstream on lock...

Nicki Minaj? No competition out there in the female aspect of the game...

This is the era of swag...Swag holds more water than lyrics, these days.

But I'm happy Drake is doing what he's doing, at least there's an artist that doesn't do nursery rhyming bullshit to sell records, he's actually putting lines together, and they make sense.

We are becoming our parents, and the kids will become theirs... it's how it is..

I think Drake has some good lyrics...dope lyricist = Eminem. Drake can definitely hold his own, though. But the gay shit has to end...this is going to become a unisex society, and being masculine would be frowned upon and coined as "homophobic". There was a post talking about this previously how they are trying to turn the hip-hop culture a little more "flamboyant".... I was looking for it, it was mentioned in a thread about a book....Eh....
