This has been brought up before and it appears to be a "hot new thing" on youtube but it seems a little unorganized as far as a solid source for remixes. Anyway, the success or failure of any idea depends solely on it's demand and participation. We have to start small but it will expand if we can come together and make it happen.

1st, I'm looking for some suggestions... I could post up an acapella in the Sample Flippage Forum and we could put our own beats to it. I would label it as "Remixxage" and also have a deadline. (This won't effect the Sample Flips, we're still gonna have that available as well).

2nd, Would you guys prefer "old school", "new school" or a mixture of both?
"Rap", "RnB", or make it "whatever" which would include basically any genre i.e. dub, pop/rock, reggae, electronic and so...?

*Keep in mind that newer acapellas are hard to find*

I have a decent amount of acapellas in the pop, soul, rnb and hip hop genres. Mostly old school stuff but more than enough to get us started, then I'll rely on you guys to come up with material.

Put some ideas up, be sure to let me know if you're down or not. If not, why?

Peace - dac

Mix of both, I cant gaurantee my constant participation but I wouldnt mind jumping in.

On the same note, we could remix ILLs own MCs as a nice switch up and some good potential cross promotion on both sides

IE.
I Just remixed Drunk Pedestrian's latest single "Tipsy Living"! Dope record, Check it out!!

And

Producer Dacalion Just remixed my last single "Tipsy Living"!! Its fresh! Check it out!

This could grow big, as Dac said, alot of potential.

The only real difference is basically, you're adding vocals to your beats. Really good for building song structuring skillz and adding the vocal element to our beats. I think you'll like it =).

yup, you add the vocals just like you would add a sample. The vocals have to be mixed right and on point timing wise, and your beat has to fit the vocals... ie most rap songs have 16 bar verses so you wouldn't want the hook of your beat to come in at 14 while your main vocals are still going. The main thing is timing everything to your acapella. I'll try to post a short example.

Lets DOOOOOOOO this! Post an accapella and lets go...screw the planning we can just let it grow organicly and see what works...start with a 90s song or somethin

yo dac, acapella's are already processed when you use them. If you have to fix a crappy one then you're better off picking one with good quality. Just like a bad recording, better not fix it but record it again instead.

Also, i noticed there are a lot of examples around the net that seem to be recorded from a shitty pick up/tt where the speed of the tt isnt fixed at all (warn out drive) so a given example might be straight 92bpm originaly but fluctuates throughout the track.

@Lou - Lmao!

@Formant - I agree 100% with you, I'm speaking in terms of adding someone else's vocals to your beat, the mix, the balance, blah blah.... I even adding some sound effects on my example, kinda gives it a creepy gothic feel to it...lol.

I did this really quick...it's just an example...lol. I used that video of the beat boxing chics that everybody wants to give it too. Maybe not after hearing this...hahaha
