Laying Drum Patterns/Beats

ok I need a lil help peoples. Often on my beats, one of the feedback I may get is that the beat is too simple. I try to take notes from other artists and emulate them but somehow I keep getting the same feedback of that the beat is too simple. I am working with FL6...any suggestions of how to make my beats stand out.

If you need an example of my beats....check out my page at soundclick under Carolina Noize Productions http://www.soundclick.com/carolinanoizeproductions

I peeped a few tracks on your soundclick...

the ideas for your beats are pretty dope i think, but i think ya gotta add more elements to your beats like the guy above said... also try switchin up your melody slightly at times too.... because your beats get repetetive... also u could drop certain elements of the beat out at times to add drama and break the monotony... like for example you could drop out the drums for the last 2 bars of the hook... or drop the hi hats on some parts of the track or something.... you'll learn within time

1st off... make ur beat lengths longer... they loop to quik.... makin them longer will have them sound less repetitive. i dont know if ur keepin thos beats, but the "gimme that" sample was used by EDO. G and the Bulldogs. and "History" is Mary J. Blige. im not sure if u knew that and u wanna change it up.

here EDO:

usually the lowest you want to have for a loop is 4 bars, 16 beats, it can go down to 8, and a ton of the time it does, but im used to 4 bar loops, and 4 bar as opposed to 2 bar loops ussually help to keep the melody fresh throughout the track
