I recently purchased a HP Pavilion dv9627cl Laptop and a SONY DCR-SR42 camcorder, Im looking for a good on-the-move video editing software. Something thats fairly user friendly but not too basic, I want to be able to add some nice effects.

Any suggestions?

been a Adobe Premier user for almost 10 years. For heavy duty stuf, it's Premier (I use Premier Pro 7, never upgraded past that). However, for simple stuff like VHS to DVD conversion, encoding TV shows and stuff like that, I use an ancient version of Ulead Media Studio (2.5 to be exact). It's Win95/98 ONLY, and I have a 1.3GHz Thunderbird running Win98SE just for this one application and the hardware I use with it (Matrox Mystique 220 with Rainbow Runner Studio).

Man good stuff. That was a great setup back in the day! nice

Aye... it's STILL a good setup for VCD authoring and even DVD creation. The greatest part about it is that it ignores Macrovision encoding from VHS and allows me to copy my tapes perfectly. Sucks that I gotta use Win98SE on that machine for this one piece of hardware. Matrox never released drivers for Win2000 or XP for it.
