All I got to say is...... DAMN! I went on a tour of Full Sail on Sunday and the shit was amazing! For a while I was actually NOT considering going, due to the price and distance but this just totally refreshed my interest. Anyone ever seen this place???

On a side note.. I HATE PLANES!!!

Yeah, Big props to Swiv! The people that succeed at full sail (from what I have read/heard about) are the one's who grind hadr while they are there. Which is what I plan to do. Landing a Job in anything having to deal with what I love to do would be amazing! But, there is alot of hard work invovled in doing so. Just seeing this place and gettin the vibe from Instructors and the President tells me alot about the campus and how much knowledge its there to gain.. Hopefully, everything works out with Financial Aid and I can do this thing..

unless they have inporved in the last year, it is well known in engineering circles that full sail is a crap audio school. Check out the conservatory of recording arts and science for a great school, I am currently going to berklee in boston and it rocks as well.

Why do I keep hearing that yet they seem to be doing pretty well over there with attendance? I think thats just a ploy to kkeep other people from going..If they sucked then people like swivel wouldnt be doing what they are doing...correct?

ya I have a friend that went there cost him 100k the music program sucks however, but the film stuff is amazing!

Well, there's 2 things wrong with your statement, but everything else you said is correct. 2 things that seems wrong to me are the price, and that fact you think the audio program sucks lol....So I guess the only thing you got right is your name?

Tuition is about 35,000. Maybe it's gone up a little. Cost of living is roughly $1000/month in Orlando. So that puts you at roughly $50,000 for the year.

As far as the music program sucking, I don't know where you're comin up with that. They have the best facilities in the world, the best environments for learning, and they scout some of the best professors/lab instructors in the business. Oh, and I believe it was Rolling Stone magazine that named it one of the top 5 audio schools in the world. But what do they know?

Anyways, from someone who's graduated first hand I will say this, the school is phenominal. You can get a lot out of it if you put the effort in. Having said that, I will also mention that, there are other schools that teach the same knowledge at half the price, and most studios don't really care which school you graduated from, as long as you got a recording arts degree from somewhere. The only difference is Full Sail is a better envorionment, better studios, more lab time, etc. Since they have so many studios, everyone gets their own workstations/studio for many of the labs. And in the big studios, they'll put you in a lab group of 6 students. Other schools you might have 20 students sharing the same studio.

If you have the money, I highly reccommend it. If not, try SAE. They have 5 locations in the US. New York, LA, Miami, Nashville, and Atlanta. The 5 biggest markets for music in the US, so you likely wont need to move anywhere once you graduate.

You can also try IAR (institute of audio research) in NYC. There is also a place in Arizona which is supposed to be very good, and a few in LA. At the end of the day, the school you choose isn't gonna be the deciding factor in which job you have, or how well you do with your career etc. That is all up to you. How hard you hustle, how well you do your job, where you live etc. Hopefully this has helped.

Ya the place in Arizona is the conservatory of recording arts and sciences that I talked about. I also agree that its more about your hustle than school. I do know that my friend just graduated with new media degree was there for two years so thats 100K so I am right on the price, also do a google search on full sale sucks and you will find lots of people who dislike the school. I have heard from many people that I respect as engineers that there audio program was crap again this was a few years ago so it may be better now.

Yeah a 2 year degree is obviosuly gonna cost more. But the recording arts is only a 12 month program. 12 months/approx $50,000....Makes sense for 2 years to be double. But we're talking about audio right now, not film or other media degrees they offer.

Also, I will agree with you, there are a lot of disgruntled full sail alumni. My answer for that is they are lazy, and expect things to be handed to them. There are A LOT of students that go to Full Sail on their parents money because they think it's the cool place to be, they slack off, miss classes, don't keep their grades up and have no hustle whatsoever. Then they wonder why they have difficulty finding a job. I have no sympathy for any of those students, and unfortunately there is a very large portion of students that fall into that category.

From my graduating class, I am by far the most successful, and I can probably count on 1 hand the people I know of who are really doing their thing and have a bright future.

I don't say this to discourage anybody, I say this to try and inspire people. It's very hard work to get to where I'm at, BUT, it's not out of reach. Anyone can do it. I'm not special in any way other than the fact that I worked my ass off, and I'm still working my ass off. I had no connections. I just applied for certain jobs, nailed the interviews, and when I started working, I did everything above and beyond what was expected of me.

If you know you're not a hustler at heart, then this industry really sint for you. That I can tell you. You need to eat, sleep, and breath music.

I cant agree with you more!

Fair enough, most college students these days seem to think the world is there oyster because they have a degree.

On another note I am working on my Pro tools operator certification and I noticed you had yours, any words of wisdom as I study for it. How difficult was it to get? I do allot of work in post now and I was hoping to get my operator in both music and post. Any advice? Thanks.
