Hey Ill fam, i was lucky enough to get my first Film score credit today. Ive written music various indie film pictures projects in the past year but they all fell though. This project happend very quickly. Below is the story of how the film credit happened. I figured i would share the process with illfam. Once the film is released it will see if I can post the song
---------------------------------------------------
Last Thursday the director of the film got in contact with my pianist friend (Rachel) and said she needed a song for the finale of her film. She was not happy with the current song and the composer who had scored the film was unavailable. Rachel asked me to help her produce the song. We only had 6 days to pull everything together due to Cannes Film Festival Submission deadlines.
The song is short and doesn’t have many parts (Piano, Trumpet, drums) but it was the focal point & finale of the film so the director was nervous. The song plays right when the main characters heart is broken and then fades to the credits. Since it’s a romantic French film the song had to have a distinct melody and convey happiness and sadness at the same time.
Rachel wrote the song in 2 days and while she did that I arranged various musicians to play on the song. Once the main piano part was written I had the musicians come by my home studio and record their parts. Then I sent the song file to a drummer in jersey and had him lay down his part.
Then I arranged the parts and mixed it. I submitted it yesterday the director was happy so that’s it .
The name of the film is Obsessive Consortium and the director will be sumitting it to various film festivals this year(cannes, Sundance etc.). Its also scheduled to by played on syndicated french TV later on this year
