Is SoundCloud doomed?

Apparently they're losing money because they pretty much leaned on just the subscription service. I think it also has something to do with users leaving because of copyright take-downs. Thoughts?

Damn this is pretty big. I feel like soundcloud is a gateway for a lot of artists to go from bedroom musician to getting noticed. What would be the next platform that would embody this same thing if soundcloud goes down?

There was another one similar to Soundcloud that was trying to fill that void but I can't remember the name. Maybe someone else knows?

@Fade was it Mixcloud? Also anytime the majors has its hands in something it goes downhill as the majors only care, as they should, but unfortunately, only about those who are indebted to and make money for them.

Now that I think about it, I think the SoundCloud community is wayyy too big to just let die and disperse to other similar platforms like that. A major player in the market is gonna buy them out and rework their business model to keep them afloat cuz the subscription based business plan is definitely not working.

I recently let go of my Soundcloud Pro and downgraded to basic due to issues of some major labels stealing producers content and ideas and building their own enigmas of sound to better suit there mainstream artists. I think its messed up that it goes down like that, and that there aren't many avenues for indie producers to showcase their talents and gain positive or negative feedback in a safe environment. I do believe that IllMuzik is a great site in offering that amenity.

I don't know how they are (I haven't tried them yet) but this is the one I found last year and forgot about. At the time there were write-ups about how they're a great alternative to Soundcloud, so you guys should check it out.
