I dont have much to say about "gangsta rapping" cuz I've never been a fan and will never be. For the simple fact how much problems can one man have that he can make a career rapping about it, but I cant say it will die, for this is what the "people/fans" wanna hear regardless of the fact its the same thing over and over. And my reason for this, is if you study black culture and understand it, you will know that the entire culture is fad based,
two examples:
1.)no "high roller" gonna go cruisin through the block in an Escalade pumping tunes that dont represent the street.
2.) I live in harlem and when the loafters on the street gather with their Moet and Hpnotik aint no way they gonna be playing sommin soothing.
and it is a sad reality that plays throughout the entire black America, fad based lifestyle is what I feel keeps hip hop and gangsta rap alive. For I have yet to come across one youngster in the hood that even attempts to be different, every one of them all do the same thing everyday - drop they pants, wear clothes that I could sell and build a great studio, have plenty baby mamas cuz its "cool" and no need to go in detail cuz we all see it on tv, right.
But I apologize for drifting off subject, but as a Jamaican seeing people idling and wasting time and money is just sommin I cant stand, but hey who cares right....

I see it like.... some people have hard ass childhoods. Some peeps lived in a house that had drippin faucets, running, broken toilets, leaky pipes and the fuccn house stunk like mold all the time. These peeps got sick of eating macaroni and hotdogs every fuccn day until they did something themselves to make money for their family. If a kid gets kicked out of school for NOT letting peeps punk him, and can't get a good job, what would you propose he do if his parents do nothing about their poverty? What if the parents could not DO anything? What if they are already workin way too hard and still don't have enough money, and mom's is gettin too old to be breakin herself? what if he had a huge bag of columbian proper fronted to him and he knew peeps who wanted to purchase? what's he supposed to do?

Noone should look at true to life circumstances as bullshit, because people live with what they've been dealt, and when you are young and see that kind of potential money when everything else is a big pile of donkey shit, it's hard to say no.

Slangin any drug to maintain is not something to do, it can lead to near death experiences if you don't know who your dealin with, which is most people.

The above is just a scenario, to think of a reason why the style of gangsta rap was born.

anyways, I'm done with this. I'm movin to a different post cuz the real gangsta shit will never die.

Not to contradict your statement identity, but dont you think its time for a change dont you think its time for the young black men of the world including myself to be looked up to instead of targeted, dont you want the young black men to rise up higher in the heirarchy of the world instead of hustling on the block, dont you want black men to be known for making real great music like back in theday. I know poverty kid the real poverty, and having mac n cheese n hot dogs is not, broken toilets aint poverty either try a pit outside the backyard that you have dig and cover with banana leaves. Take me for an example I left all the way from Jamaica, and you say this country's is hard to survive, then how come I managed to work myself from nothing to a Junior Accountant finished a house for moms, bought her a car and all a that I accomplished in little over a year and a half. So, because moms is having it hard isn't an excuse to go hustle, and thats the message that these artiste should be spreading instead of packing they impressionable minds that easy money exists and that gangsta rapping or hustling can get you just that, for we all know it aint so, thats why I cant lend my support to Gangsta Rap. But hey thats just my two cents

good point and I'm on target with you krzy, all the way. It's not that hard for everyone to make it, at least a meal ticket, BUT for those who have been stuck since they were kids might not see any other way, this was my point... some peeps are like "gangsta rap is gay" and I don't see that... I see "some" of them as being promoters of truth, look at mac mall and his "war on drugs" track

<font color=red>"the war on drugs is a joke, but I ain't tryin to sell no mo dope in the year 2 triple 0"</font>

He's a "gangsta rapper" so to say, but he promotes a positive image that CAN and IS looked up to. there are a bunch of phony ass imitators who are "gangsta" rappers as they proclaim themselves, but it's all studio for radio play and the "shock factor" but TRU gangsta rap has it's place bro.

It is time for things to get better, but that's one of the reasons gangsta rap has it's place. If it weren't for gangsta rap, then the nation probably wouldn't have taken the stand that we did when rodney king was beaten and tazered over and over, it gives the people their power back, if even for the 4 minutes and 30 seconds that it is... if it weren't for gangsta rap, we would not have had the way paved for this genre of music that we know as rap today.... everyone loves eminem and dr. dre, but what did dre start as? one if the first popular gangsta rappers around,

I know what your sayin, and I feel that 1000% and I think that the real deal is in the middle.

in the middle... I mean hardcore has it's place, but not as a straight up bad influence. There has to be a positive message from those who would kick game and give knowledge to our undereducated youth...

all in all, what we really need is better jobs and education, with enrollment programs for underprivelidged kids... thus limiting the amount of criminal activity or the "need" to do it... when a foo has money, he's not so pisst at the world, lol!
