I wanted to try something different, so this is a bit of a homage to my OG "DJ" days, aka when I was first starting to mess around with music at 10 years old by rearranging premade loops. I had no idea what mixing was or really much of anything then, I just liked rearranging the sounds I had. So this is the grown up version of that. What I did on this beat: pitched down a downtempo electronica track I liked while also speeding up the BPM and then let it run for its entirety, quantizing as needed. I remixed it to highlight certain sounds, while also adding some pulsating distortion to create a unique bass. I then put what I hope is a chill yet head knodding drum break as I knew I'd have to have it run consistently because of the non-traditional melody changes. I then remixed the drums to give them some hip-hop grit while layering in some open high hats and a clap. Then I added a little bit of reverb and saturation, before blowing it a kiss and posting to YT. Fun fact: the drum break is from a file on archive.org supposedly ripped from vinyl, so the crackle your hearing is from the 1977 record (well, pretty close anyways).
I can imagine one of those interlude type tracks on this, where maybe someone throws down some bars before stopping to talk about the behind the scenes of the album, their life, etc. Like those few outro type tracks Kanye had on some of his early albums. Anyways, this is me experimenting and fucking around, let me know if you think it's cool.
