hey class, good job on the appointment.

I haven't heard of where you're teaching... what kind of performers are there? Is it a classical/jazz school? I'm going to juilliard in 06. Maybe one day we'll work together.

That website is terrible and didn't tell me anything. I tried looking for the faculty and I learned nothing. However, I asked some friends and I know that it's a great performing arts place.

I wouldn't say that "the best" come there, simply because there's more to the world than New York City, but you can be assured that amazing talent passes through there and you should have some great opportunities. Frankly, I've never heard of something like an IT Developer paying "mad cheese", or anything like that for a matter of fact... I know that you have to be Itzhak Perlman for those schools to pay you 6 figures. So whatever you're doing, you must have a very diverse job description, and they're appreciating your talent for sure. It truely is a dream job, and it sounds like you're far ahead of many people your age.

This is a tough business that some of us are in, but when someone like you gets a good job like this it provides inspiration and a light at the end of the tunnel. Congrats on this, and I hope it goes really well.

Like you said BAM, is mainly known a performing arts venue where performers from all over the world the come threw, next season they hey acts ranging from de-la-soul and arrested development, to the Chinese ballet, its also where they film all the MTV unplugged (including the latest Alicia keys), that’s why I made the comment about the best musicians in the world, the best from all different types of genre’s of arts and music come threw bam every season,

the BAM music school is far less known and serves more as a music educational center for the communitity at large, this is where i will have the opportunity to teach part time (down the road), its no where near the level of Julliard, nor is it going to attract the same crowed or students, Its more communitity based but its a good opportunity to try out teaching which is something I’ve always wanted to do…

I’m not making hundreds of thousands of dollars lol, I could be making Far more working as a IT consultant in Manhattan(close to 6 figures), because of my IT background. But considering this is the arts, they are paying me very well.

Man you struck gold, but not really since a lot of that has to do with luck. What you have is because you're good and you worked hard. Really, congrats. Sometimes after spending hours in the practice room, and doing all this hard work nothing seems to be gettin gbetter, it's nice to see that eventually hard work can pay off.

Good luck Classic, you dont talk about it, you are, good to see both passions finding their place for you, a lot of people know that music is their passion but it doesn't pay the bills though so you are quite fortunate with your skillset to have enough lucci to support your habit and make all of these power moves, one thing only surprises me about your moves though I know quite a few people, Native New Yorkers in the biz that have been in the industry that discouraged my talk of moving there, they moved to ATL, Miami and Canada as the dynamics of the industry have changed its axis even though there are plenty of opportunities it seems like you would return to your roots where even New yorkers and other folks are going because the South is supposedly the now in the music industry not NY....but again you have to follow your dreams to where you want to go.

Well, even if you live in ATL or MIA, you still gotta come up to NYC to get that deal, most reputable companies in "tha biz" have offices and representatives in NY and it'll remain that way until the end of time.

I could say that Atlanta right now is definitely the best place to be as a working producer, because of the strong independent scene and ridiculous networking opportunities that are present in the "A".

Many stars vacation in MIA and a lotta projects get completed down there, so yeah you can make things happen there too. Property is a lil' high, but if you are good with your budget you can maintain a good living.

*I used to be the biggest believer in "Making it happen where you live, no need to move" but I have learned verrrry quickly as I've progressed that you can't put a price tag or value on being able to go to a local event and meeting very important people in the biz
almost every weekend.

NYC may not be the industry "hotspot" it once was, but I promise you it's more opportunities there than in Maryland where Class currently is.

Exaclty,

For the record, i dident move to NYC to automaticlly "make it" i know that eventually, where ever i am, i will have an opperunitity. My main reason for moving to NYC was this job opperunitity, i have to figure out what im going to do to pay the bills before this music ish pops off... This job is the perfect blending of my IT background and my musical interests. Like i said eailer, i will have the opperunitity to develope even more as a musican and interact with some of the best in the world

And yea, NYC has WAY more oppertunitites this DC/MD/VA, im telling you ive been there for over 2 years and i havent met one artist that was worth working with,"closeist i got was almost selling some beats to bossman"

I just dident like the vibe of that whole area, cats are confused, thats why it aint popping off, but thats a whole nother topic

I dident move down south becasue of the money, i love my home but the job market is way behind the north..

Thanks for the encouragement everyone

class...

Yeah I agree on that one too! or VA for that matter.....its all about strategy, like you said the heads of the beasts are still for the most in NY, most of my connects are producers and smaller labels and production companies that feed off of projects in NY and they have been drying up for them and they changed some scenery to down south or putting in work in Canada.

the hood is still hood, just like any other hood

what is this man, who's hood is harder,? LOL come on man like i said everywhere has its areas, of course BK is gonna have its spots, but alot of it is NYC hype because the average dudes fav rapper is from there, lets be real, if biggie came out of lil Haiti (MIA) or Jordan park(my hood) talking “kick in the door” that same they would be the same hype surrounding those areas

Of course u gotta be careful where u go, that’s with any spot, my point was this, Brooklyn is HUGE and 95% of it is nice residential neighborhoods and brownstones. A lot of cats who haven’t been here have this image of Brooklyn being projects and run down and that aint the case of all, that shit is hype, you get cats coming out of nice areas like Ft greene etc.. acting like they hurting something,

Its not the 80’s no more, cats is not dropping like they used to, and BK is locked down for the most part, this isent coming from me, this is coming from friends and frat brothers that are native brooklynites. There is a lot of cash coming into BK (espically because of the Brooklyn nets)
the white folks are moving back into the cities buying up old properity and raising the values(gentrification).

Plus cant nobody tell me shit man, ive lived in Baltimore city for the past 2 years, it don’t get no worse then that….
