Why? Because for one my room is getting crowded as hell. #2 The convience of it all. I can cut down the excess time of loading up everything in half and get right into working on a track. No more writing down my beats on paper to remember what noise i used and where. Another thing is when i'm going to have my stuff mixed down, now i have to sit here track by track while it records it takes 30-60 mins per song to track a song vs a few clicks. Also the unlimited things you can do with software with drum programming, just endless options that cost much much much less than my hardware equiptment. I've thought it over and i think its a great move. I've worked on software before and its not bad when you got a midi controller and a MPD16. I'm excited.

Yo that sounds good. Everyone's got their preferences, and if this works best for you, then good. I need to get my hands on the MPD16! That looks tight as hell.

I'm glad you liked my MPD16 link, I'm currently saving for it myself...if any of you get it before me, please let me know what you think.

originally i wanted to stay with just using software but after all the problems with data loss, and errors to files and folders plus the computer crashing all the time i tend to prefer to keep all my stuff on a hardware sampler that uses smart media cards so its real quick to save stuff.

But if ur gonna go software make sure u dont try skimp on the cost of buying a computer cause that will hurt u in the long run

peace

It depends what you use. I'm going to be using reason and i dont know anybody who's reason set up has crashed on them. I have a good computer now that i bought at the end of last year thats plenty powerful. What were you running that was causing you all those problems Jpeg?

Wassup man, I've had the MPD-16 for almost a year now. I dont see how I programmed drums without it! I used to play drums on my midi controller but that shit is wack. If you've ever worked on the MPC2k you should get the MPD. Actually even if you havent worked on the MPC you should still get it.

Some Guy, glad to know that its what I'm hoping for...I'M SAVING...what's the US price...here it's approx. $425.

BeatOff, cool to see others who like Reason, check out the 2.5 version coming out in the second quarter of this year with 6 new gadgets...see the Propellerhead website if you haven't seen it yet.

yeah 2.5 will be nice.
At last decent fx, if it's as great as they say on their website maybe I'll be running it alone without cubase or live some times.

I think Reason is ok as a stand alone sequencer...with the tons of soundbanks and refills I got...I don't really anything...so far. Apart from a better reverb than the one currently in Reason, which at the moment I'm using a Dx plugin or ProTools reverb, but the RV7000 that comes with 2.5 sounds quite good from the demo you can listen to on the website.

US price is about $300 bux, which is still hella money for some rubber pads. I dont think there's anything else like it tho so I guess they can charge whatever they want haha.

I thought about using an old drummachine...but I just haven't seen anybody with the same comfy pads...don't know if it'll work either.
