wasup,

as there appears to be absolutely no hip hop scene in my area (trust me iv searched for 2 years) im thinking of tryin to set somethin off to get people in my area to come out and network. im not mad on these net collabs wit emcees, its just so inconvenient and i dont like the whole process of it, it just aint right.

i know most of yall is from the states, but if you got any ideas on how to do this let me know. what methods do you see in your city/town? i know there are dudes out there writin rhymes.

i was thinkin along the lines of puttin posters up, creating a website etc...

Absolutley, promote.
There is always a hiphop scene, or people who are trying to find the hiphop scene.
" If you build it, they will come..."LOL
For real if its that hard to find a scene my friend you will absolutley OWN that area for all things hiphop!!
I mean dont get me wrong...
I know, that you know ,what you are talking about when you say that.
I have been reading the fourms on the MPC
( which made me go ahead and get that 2500 ).
Comming from an individual who lives and breathes hiphop and and has
been in the position like that your in with no outlet to network..... You should print up as many flyers and promo as you can and set it up.
If nothing else you'll be known amoungst whoever shows up as the guy to see
in that area nah mean?

And Relic drops the knowledge.

Where are you located? See if theres any local newspapers or classified ads you can get into and run ads from there. Just put the word out "Hip Hop producer seeks MC's or Producers to network with". Are you trying to record people as well or just make the beats for them?

I agree, a website and flyers is a great idea. Talk with a few friends that might be remotely interested in the idea and get loads of flyers up around your college/sixth form. Their bound to catch the eye of a few people interested in hiphop sooner or later.

The flyer thing is surprising, it does actually work. I put a few up for a near buy graff/hiphop sop in my sixth form a[s well as handing a few out] and there was some interest.

thanks for the knowledge ppl.

5th Sequence i wanna generally 'produce' a couple of artists hands on, like go into a studio and work with em. but i also wanna get somethin poppin, like a meeting or somethin where anyone, whether it be emcees, RnB singers or beat makers can get together and make somethin.

word, thats tight. I'd suggest running an add of somesort in something that gets good circulation (a magazine of sometype that has to do with music possibly). Are there any record shops or music stores in your area? Go to any of these places (and travel to ones a lil outside your area too) and put flyers in there. Even if you don't do flyers, just check out every single record shop or music place there is. I've probably met about 7-8 contacts through the music store Guitar Center here in the US. Just be mad cool with people an let them know what your up to and what your tryna do. Talk to the store employees and ask them if they know anyone.

You might want to see if you can organize an open mic night and invite local artist to perform for free for exposure. You will have to have a venue or some place to hold the event.

Look man, you have to collaborate with others then, in different areas....how mobile are you? do you drive? are there other cities closeby?.......I am sure there are some cats on ill that have too many emcees in their hood LOL.....network with them....ask them if you can send them a track and have an emcee spit a few bars on it....get enuff of these and get a website with mixtapes of the trax........I mean if there is no hip hop scene where you are and you dont have anyone to support a hip hop fanbase your only choice beyond what I mentioned is get your ducks in a row and find the place you want to be in and move.......

Thats is a damn good place to start if no one else is doing it.
Even the curious will come out.
And people I hate to give away secrets here haha, but if you find yourself in the position
my man has decribed here go to your local Kareoke bar with as many friends(non thuggish)
as you can find fan out through the club watch the floks make asses of themselves and see if the DJ will play an instrumental of yours and blow the spot.
If your people are placed right and start rockin with the song and dancin and shit it WILL take off so that the nonhiphop headz will groove to the best of there ability.
You will get approached after your act by people who liked it and make them your all important fan base.
Keep in touch with them start playing there reg like and start your own shit whever you can.
Kareoke is also a good place (Producers) to find talented singers who arent doing shit that you can get to come to your studio and lay backgrounds for free.
Just throw in the deal that you will record them singin that marvin gaye or whatever on cd and hit 'em.
You will win out of that deal.
EDIT
Stress those steps are smart.
Absolutley

Seems like the compition is too much.
Did I mention that I dont like earthquakes or driveby's?
No thats just a stereotype. I heard its beautiful in the right spots.
The natives from there that I have met here have all been like gangstas on the run from they gangs and shit though so its like a bad taste.
For real though its(rap) happinin there.

I want to move there too but it's so damn expensive!! Whats minimum wage over there?? shit in Oregon it's $7.50 and we have no sales tax. Cali is just expensive in general. My broke ass tryna sell stuff on the corner... I'll get shot AND fall in a earth quake crack. I'll rep Northwest side for now.

the earthquakes arent that bad haha. but the risk of gettin shot is a little high haha. u dont have to move to LA tho, there there are nice cities. Torrance, Palos Verdes, Redondo, El Segundo, etc. And i live in the Jungle but no more than ten minutes away is a neighborhood full of mansions lol. so there are nice parts.
and minimum wage is $6.75 but schwarnegger is talkin bout uppin it to $7.75 (http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-minwage6jan06,1,4374825.story?coll=la-headlines-business)
