What's worse is when your gear depreciates over time. I mean it's the idea between how much YOU get out of it verse the overall cost. I snagged the Motif XS the week it dropped for ~$3,500. They were taking them back for ~$1,600 and turning them back around used at ~$2,400. When the XS dropped they blew them all out for (sometimes under) $1,200. After Expanded System who woulda thought they'd make an Xcessively expanded System.

Same with the Alesis Fusion. It came out like a regular workstation and was eventually blown out for as little as $400.

The opposite with the TR808/TB303. Considered failures when they dropped and went on to become classics.

Gear is truly an investment because you never know.
A company could go under...product lines discontinued.
Trends come and go. Analogs went away and now there's a re-surgence so you might see a lot of new analogs.

^^^ and samplers, people are paying good prices on jd800 as its considered the last true va made by roland (before the groovebox romplers), the S750/S770 is almost identical in sound and synthesis for a quarter of the price...EMAXIII, Z8, S3200, E4xt even the asrx series sound very good, all can be had for the price of a plugin. Only a few VA synths will keep their values, stuff like a mint virus B, ATC or SE fully modded, a polymorph will keep value or beasts like andromeda ( though thats a matter of taste ) or weird stuff like the hartman neuron. Shit like nordrack are getting ditched, i personally dont like the sound and the nord mini is just too electro minimalish (its really played out over here), a nordrack one over here goes for 400 bucks, 800 for a virus b desktop (600 euro mint) which i dont understand, i got the C offered to me for 1000 euro 3 months after the release...dude bought 2 spares when they came out, box never been opened...and the mpc of course, i got 2 2kxl when they just came out...ive never ever seen 1 particulair piece of gear which has been offered so much as the mpc2000xl... many brandnew 2 month old on sale secondhand for bargain prices..you just had to love it if youre starting out on hiphop producing lol

@Sucio: Lab must mean Little Area for Beats!

No need to throw the hardware disclaimer in there.
Not everyone needs a real studio to make tracks.

I know that, smarty pants.

I just have access to a small production studio where they have a motif 8, a 4000 and a nord 2x.....So whenever I feel like going out there to make music...I just go there...

BTW the place is called "Scream Studios" located across from KDS Studios in Orlando. Rubbed a few elbows there and was granted access to the production studio as long as it isn't being occupied by paying customers.

Kontents: I spend my money on bills...lol. Unfortunately for me, I took up a little more than I could afford. But I am finally starting to get ahead of the game..... I'm currently saving up for some equipment....Not sure exactly what I want right now.
