Busses go into the master bus... Ha. This I know.
But then again... Where is the master bus going? Who drives the master bus? Do I need a ticket to hop on the master bus? What's the fare? What time does the last master bus leave?...

All I know is that when the passengers get loud in my master bus, the driver makes big red eyes and everybody calms down instantly otherwise they get high-pass filtered.

in my master bus when the passengers get loud Mr. Limiter chop their heads off so they dont have red eyes...now...the driver thinks that solves the problem with red eyes, but he ends up with headless passengers...which is not cool...

Well, what i mean with 12 instruments max is something like.

First i make a good chord progession with a piano for the whole track.
than add a Bassline
Than add an acoustic guitar panned like 50% to the left or right.
than add maybe a vibraphone
than a String starts playing from bar 5 till 8.

And then… Like after every 2 bars you do a bell with 3 notes.
And in the last bar you add a crazy organ sound or something.

That's already 7 melodies.

Id call the main driving melody of a song to be the melody, the other stuff I would call fills and accompaniment. Thats why I end up with so many tracks because I can have a lot of instruments that might just have one note that only appears once, or a little fill that only comes at the end of an 8 or 16. Now I see what you meant though.
