well

I started when I was 15, on a casio keyboard, and a casio sk1 sampler. That was 1988. I moved on to using a studio and screwing around on the korg m-1. then i bought an hr-16b, and a 4-track, roland jx-1 analog synth, and alesis quadraverb. that was 1991. In 1993, I got the asr-10 - which is my baby...also picked up a nuemann mic, juno 6, ms 2000, vs-880 ex (for digital mixing only, not recording), a jv-1010, and a ensoniq esq-1.

anyways, I been goin' hard for 15 years, put out 4 12"s, produced for 4 retail released albums, been in the source's independent's day, houston press, etc...been offered fucked up contracts by major production companies...I keep em all to remind me how janky this business is...

I got a new cd coming out in the fall, and the 12 inch for that coming this month. This is the one, and this is the year. I've built this from the ground up, and I'm about to pull a damon dash on everyone.

I actually started makeing tracks on this crap Casio 2 seconds of sample time garbage mini keyboard. A real real ghetto setup 2 tape decks I think that was 1989 we would sample a snare and use a metromone to play it through the 3 minutes. Then sample the kick and record back to the other tape deck using this crap realistic mixer sad really. Took use forever just to get the drums layed down.

Then we moved up to a sp12 now that was a nice joint. Used it till
like 1993 before I finnaly got a EPS. Mostly did local stuff while I collected a bunch of random old school equipment. Of course it was only a matter of time before it all got jacked.

Anyway I took a couple of years off then started in with a old atari st and some crap sequencer in like 1996. Which brings me to now I use Logic Audio with a pc a few random keyboards and a gang of old vinyle for sounds.

So I guess about 11years where there was actual beats being produced in my lab.

I've been in music for a while now (over 20 years) but only making beats for about a year or 2. I started out as a DJ, my specialty was srcatching. Now that I'm beyond that point, I choose to produce. I see new and far more exciting challenges producing beats.

i started makin beats about 18 months ago when i got my first pc so i kinda learned to use both at the same time,i used to freestyle but after i stopped doin dirt i really didn't have much to flow about and i never wrote shit down so i really didn't have old songs i could work on either but i really always listened to the beats in songs more than the lyrics ecspecially after the lyrical content started going downhill(in my opinion)

too long to not be making hardly any money...bout 4-5 years and i haven't run into any down "artists" yet..especially ones that'll pay me for what i'm worth..figure i'm worth something with thousands of dollars of equipment being used
