How Important is RELEVANCY?

Yeah I agree, it's a balancing act of staying relevant but not jumping on the next money trend. As bad as I hate to say this...Jay Z is a master at staying relevant yet he bites other MC's flow a lot imo. It has alot to do with the way he does it, it's somewhat subtle but he has a knack at making it his when all is said and done. That takes talent.

I think what makes us producers different is that when we sample, we don't usually sample from whats hot at the time, we dig and look for rare ish and try to make it hot in this time. Ofcourse I can't speak for all producers but thats the idea, No? ~

Kanye- A blatant biter. Samples will be raped, and styles will be too. He admitted to stealing Dr Dres drums, every album after Graduation blindly followed the trend of what was pop.

Wayne- Jay Z lover, Biting evidence is above.

Drake- Who is a amalgmation of everyone above. His rapping style is essentially, Jay, Wayne, and Kanye with Big Sean punchline. (Bald....kemo). His singing is basically aliyah with the producer "Dream"'s drums.

And that is why hes successful. Hes always been a mainstream rapper changing up his style to fit current trends, he was going to use autotune on his last album until it started getting talked negatively about.
Jay Z has been riding bandwagons for his whole career IMO.
