uh. i read what i can get my hands on, even the source.
what cracks me up is how benzino and eminem basically made xxl because of their beef..... way to go zino, way to give the comp your business. eminem wouldnt even do an interview for xxl until this whole thing popped off with "sauce". the editor for xxl irritates me with his gay little rhymes at the beginning of each issue... and sauce needs to get off the nutts of the "streets". i read bioth, but ironically, i cant stand either one.
i' m tired of one sided writing and a severelack of resources for hip hop cats like ourselves- not everyone has net access to get illmzik. the source recently did a production spread and "highlighted" like 0 up and coming producers- highlighted meaning two sentences about each of them. and then you have evil dee giving studio advice, what to get for budgets of $5000, $10,000 and $15,000. and his advice sucked- like he said the 8 outs will run you an extra $1000 on an mpc. and thats really all he recommended was an mpc, a triton and some mics. WAY TO GO. i could have written an in depth, 40 page article on what to get depending on your financial, skill, and focus levels... and i aint even close to being the most knowledgeable guy here.
so what does that tell me? that when we have the money (or if/when i start to do some business with my work) we should do an Illmuzik magazine. THAT would be the dopest thing out. i got writing/journalism skills, i could do that easily.
another thing is that these magazines are very one dimensional- the underground, unless its of the "lil flip" variety- gets absolutely zero space outside of a small section in each mag respectively. b-boys and graf heads get no press, there is no real coverage of shows or events, none of that. and i have never heard of wax poetics..... oh yeah and vibe sucks nutts as well. thats enough of me complaining for one day...
