What's good people? I'm new to this site but I love it already, anyway. I've been saving up some money, and I'm ready to throw down like up to $2000 in software and what ever will give me all the tools I need to make some muzik. My question is what is the best software/equipment I could buy? thanks

My advice is to TRY THE DEMO VERSION before you buy anything.
I h8 to see folks get ripped off, so if you got buddies that make beats
learn the in-outs at their crib before you buy shit.
Don't go out and buy no MPC or no Triton (yet) until you know what
you think you'll be comfortable working with. You can do a lot
with software these days, it just takes patience to learn but
there are plenty tutorials available on this world wide web!

the man with experience always ends up with the money,
while the person with the money leaves with experience.

Make sure you know your stuff before you buy.

what type of comp do you have now, and whats the specs on it, if it sucks i would spend some of that on a new comp, get it custom built and shit, but like everybody else said just demo software and shit

like shadeed said you should research your ass off while using demos and if you find yourself getting addicted then by that time you'll have researched eough that you'll be able to decide for yourself what's best for your specific talent's workflow.

FL Studio 5 is fucking dope! I've been spending the last two weeks messing around with it. It's 150 bucks. It has a gang of ish.

The only reason why heads aren't worshipping this, is because a lot of people don't take time to learn all it can do.

I am seriously amazed with this software.

This software is like copping a mixer, mpc, proteus 2000, Microkorg, rhodes piano, and a whole lot more.

Get this and a midi controller and you're spending like 300 bucks.......

That's 1700 you could put up when it comes time to manufacture and promote your finished project.

unless you into playing basslines only, get a midicontroller with at least 61 keys, screw knobs n shit unless you like tweaking acid/detroit kinda techno, so just something with nice keys, weighted, aftertouch the lot. Get a good audio card talking brands like RME, Emu or Lynx. Save the rest up for a set of second hand Genelec 1031a's, with that set you get the whole block crying their eyeballs out hehe.

Well, in my opinion, FL Studio XXL is nice at only $290. A good hardware piece could be either the Roland MC-909 - $1300 or the Roland MV-8000. But this is all my preference. You have to go to your local music equipment retailer and try them out for yourself. You might like one of the MPCs by Akai or maybe the Korg Triton. Hell, the Roland Fantom-X6 is pretty tight too. It's all preference. What ever helps you create the best is what you should go with. What works for Pharrell, Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, or Timbaland, may not work for you. Shop around and be picky. You want a machine or software that will compliment your style of music the best and when you find it, go with it, practice and most importantly, have a shit load of fun doing it. You have to love what you do or it ceases to become worthwhile. Peace.
