I was wondering, can I:
Get a SCSI to USB cable,
Connect it to USB adapter cable
(cuz the end has to be usb B)
& hook that into a zip drive

Would that work with my MPC 2000?
or would I buy it all, plug it in, and be very disapointed

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT

on the 2000 there is a scsi connector, you need either a usb converter the goes from scsi to usb...make sure you get the right connector....the one on the 2000 looks like a parallel interface in my recollection but its not...I had one about 3 years ago i cant remember............your best bet if you cant find one is look for an old scsi zip drive, preferably one that reads 250MB zips or a scsi hd drive.....

the only reason I have a zip is to access hundreds of beats that are from my 2000xl that I didnt want to discard

my 2500 has the CF drive standard, I just transfer the files directly from my zip drive to the MP

To be honest i'm not sure you can get em to work with the 2000 i know you could put an internal zip also into the 2000xl but it doesn't work for the 2000 i have a feeling the same applies for the multicard readers. As far as your problem all you need is a SCSI cable connect it to a SCSI ZIP drive which works fine for and has for years. I bought a usb zip drive and attached it to my PC to transfer all my ALL APS to my pc and i back up all the beats to CD or DVD. Just don't save your file names longer then 8 characters if you transfer em to PC cause you'll lose the remaining characters so if you try to reload it wont work. ALSO don't format the ZIPS on the PC format only on the MPC. sorry bout the essay hope it helps. PZ

Do you need certain Software programs to pull audio info off a zip disk used in an MPC 2000? My boy sold his MPC but kept the discs and wants to know if I can convert the loops on the discs to work in Reason or any other Software Sampler.

Is there a certain program I need?

He said he didn't save them as wave files.

yeah u should be able to get the raw samples off of the discs, non of the seq or pgm data though

all u need is a usb zip that only costs about $40, or a zip drive on ur computer

^^^Good stuff.

I actually have a zip. I was getting ready to Ebay it but when he hit me up about the zips he had...I didn't know if I could help him out. So I guess I won't be able to pull his arrangements, but I should be able to get his sound loop files?

Can they possibly be in another format other thatn .wav that my computer won't recognize or does the MPC automatically import the recorded audio files as a .wav?

you need software that will open .snd then convert it to wav. I know Cool Edit could do it but i'm not sure if adobe audition does tho.
