i need a real punchy snare sound for a beat, in the vein of the beat for "still feel me" off of the jadakiss album.

think alcehmist.... if anyone can help me either by hookin me up with a good hit, or some guidanceto create this thing from scratch. ohhhh have i tried... i cant get it for whatever reason. im ready to say screw it....

still tryinno tips, eh? i dont want his drums, its just the sound i want for this beat is in the same vien of that particular snare.

so no tips?

FX and EQ are your keys grasshopper, any snare that sounds agreeable at low intensity and volume, can become that big sound that you seek properly amplified, compressed and tweaked, find the best sounding acoustic snare you can find, it must be a real snare........I know what you are talking about though....Dr. Dre and Madlib usually deliver those flavors of snares too....but the best thing is to find an old Jazz cut or maybe James Brown and tweak it...

yeah, i have used fx and eq to death on a few hits trying to do this.

perhaps, i need a more focused approach. compression leaves me with a squished, "chh" sound like the dre drums on bilals "fast lane"... a sound i absolutely loathe.

im going to get to work tonight some more. im growing weary though! ahhh the joys of mixing.

this isnt my strong point just yet.
