I just ordered an mpc 4000 plus and now im looking into to getting a rack module like the fantom xr/motif es or getting a software workstation like the quantum leap colossus.I want high quality sounds,Ive heard that software that doesnt sound as good as hardware but after listening to colossus it's giving it a run for it's money. My only concern about the fantom xr/motif es rack combo is that alot of people use the same rack's.Same rack's same sounds.Let me know what you guys think about this topic.

TRY OUT THE COLOSSUS PLUG-IN OR THE FANTOM XR/MOTIF ES RACK?
I WANT WHAT SOUNDS BEST TO SEQUENCE IN MY MPC 4000

ADVICE WELCOMED!!!!!!

Just so you know, I read on eastwestsamples.com that "EASTWEST is also releasing a hardware rack-mount version of COLOSSUS called COLOSSUS LIVE", so you might want to consider that. Is price an issue? Cause the Colossus software version is like $1400, so I can't imagine what the hardware version will be like. One thing to consider with software and the sound quality is the setup you're installing it on. To run this beast you're gonna need a nice and powerful computer and this thing is 32 GIGS! Also the soundcard will determine the quality of the sound. It won't make sense to get Colossus if your comp and soundcard ain't up to specs or if you'll have to pour money into to get it in shape to run the softeware with quality sound. Also, I have to agree with Formant, the Korg Legacy is sweet.

Why not use Reason as a sound module? THen maybe get yourself a lil rack or keyboard. I always promote the E-MU PK-6 cauze datz my baby and it has some nice soundz and goez hand in hand wit a MPC. Or even check out da E-MU Halo dats hot to. But if u go wit software u can get VST's and stuff but thats totally on how u wanna go about producing.
