I'd say it's probably one of the most rite of passage things as an engineer.

Any pro or mentor I've had all report doing it ... seen it happen before too.


I remember first time it happened to me... I had this new EQ plugin, and I was subtly boosting and going "real smooth and transparent..." decided to see how transparent it is and do a massive boost, I was about +8dB into this "transparency" before I realised something was up
