yo .. i got this dude that buys trax from me all day evryday .. im producing his album .. hes a lil too old for the game .. and hes at best a mediocre emcee ... he fucs up take after take .. but i still fuc wit him and respect him cuz dude works hard as shit .... he takes his shit mad serious .. and is crazy determined to succeed .... u guys know people like that? .. maybe not up there talent wise but still earn your respect for the work and dedication they put into it ... alot of other cats i work with have the opposite problem .. mad talent and no ethic ... ill stick with this cat and work with him even after i get on cuz hes helped me through some tough financial spots hittin me off for a beat when i REALLY needed the cash and hes just a hard workin dude fo real.. gotta respect that nowadays

Been in that dillema for quite some time, have tons of tracks that I sold to the hard workers and then the not so hard.... thing is if I haven't signed someone, I only sell the track to em or whatever, don't do any recording for the most part I let them handle that or take it to a studio, I wasted lots of time actually recording and trying to push emcees that really didn't have it or really didn't understand the idea of commitment....basically I dont have the time to end up with finished tracks that dont mean anything or its never going to see the light of day i have been hard at work just catalog building about the last year or so, even though I get tons of requests to record emcees, I have seen plenty of emcees that are either old for the game or the flow is pretty uninspiring, at that point I respect their art but I really cant mess with them seriously.

maybe it is just seems this way to me; but the 'hardest workers' and most motivated, hype people always have the least talent. i know a couple of rappers that are super nice and don't even try hard at rap until someone forces them to. every once in a while i come across someone with a whole bunch of talent and a real desire to succeed.

you often find the people in the best paid jobs aren't the cleverest most talented people but they are pretty much always the most motivated !
personally i believe that you pretty much succeed in any chosen field if you put in the work !

yeah that's exactly how i feel classic, but i aint talkin about anybody on here! but like even on myspace, the dude with 50,000 friends that posts 15 bulletins a day will be garbage. then i will stumble across a page that is not even poppin, but da music will be crazy! there's gotta be a name for that syndrome

I worked with Relic and Stepchild on a music video and they worked the ass's off. I ran them all over town. It was a great experience.

Heheheh I guess we're the older mediocre talent work our ass off types!!
We'll work our ass off tho.I just need more people on the team that are workaholics whole project has been on hold for a second..
DreamPolice did a good job on that ting too!

nah matye, for me it is the other way round, noone in england got drive at all, i mean the studios them selves are like minimum $200 for two hrs, that is why i think there is no work ethic for some, they just cant afford it....

i come across kats like that all the time.

They are hungry as hell, but they just cant rap. They just not built for it.

And i dont wanna crush they dreams n' shit cuz i know how it is on the otha side of the gun. Hiphop could be the one thing that keeps them wakin' up the next morning.

And then on tha otha end i see talented ass emcees, thats just flat out lazy.

thing is, if a guy can work hard, he can get better. He can learn how to write hooks. Maybe even become a Lil' John type "artist"... that guy made millions by screaming. I know that era of Southern music might be over, but it's not impossible for a guy with less talent but huge drive to make it to the top.
