Good Masterkeyboard?

I´m starting to renew my setup and this time I definitely want to buy a decent masterkeyboard. I don´t want to spend too much, but it should have an USB midi interface and some faders for tweaking softsynths and stuff. 25 keys should do it and being of compact size ain´t bad either
there´s the midiman oxygen8. i also saw theevolution mk-225c. they´re about the same price. which one should i get? any alternatives? any experiences? thanks

Personally I just use MidiTech MidiStart, nice and simple...49 keys, pitch and modifier...in Denmark it cost approx. $140 and it's probably much cheaper in the US.

Take this from someone who learned the hard way:

Your controller is VERY important. Make sure it does what you want, else you will be selling it in the future and getting another one...

Things I look for in a controller:

-semi-weighted keys
-Tx velocity
-Tx aftertouch
-dedicated pitch and mod wheels

Other than that, I don't care so much about knobs and faders because I have dedicated boxes for those tasks. And I certainly don't care about USB...as long as it has MIDI ports, I'm happy.

However, there is a new Edirol USB controller, it looks REALLY nice and I think it will Tx sysex data to older synths:

In my studio I have a Kawai K5000s, it is an additive synth with a very nice keyboard attached to it.

The 49 key version is about $250 from Musician's Friend, and the 32 key version is $180.

little bit too much for my budget right now. i guess i´ll have to wait some more months.

hello. i think it is good to have a synthesiser as a control. If you like knobs, look and see if a digital/analogue synthesiser is right for you. Roland make easy use synthesisers with many control of knobs and faders. K5000 is a good synth and control, but many people do not know power of k5000.

I reccomend the TERRAREC TMS3 if you aren't into tweakin' and shit...

It's simple but effective and unbreakable !
