i hate the fl drums there are wack! you have to have a good foundation, and it starts with the drums for me. if the drum lac energy and thickness then it really doesn't matter what sample you use. the snare to me is very important and it has to match the kick,highhat,ect you can't just put any snare to a kick and a sample and call it a beat.
i always layer my snares i never us a default snare, i sometimes layer 3,4,5,6, snares to make one really good snare, but thats the problem with producer today. they are getting to lazy and relying on technology to much and looking for the easy way out, and not spending enough time enginering. everyone want to make beats in 5min. i take my time to me it doesn't matter how long it takes. so take your time to really focus on eq,effect,layer, volume, on the snare.
